The staff is extremely helpful - all the tours we did were arranged through the pousada. They also arranged a car with a guide/driver for our nocturnal trip - star gazing in Lençóis is an amazing experience when the sky is clear. The grounds are great to relax after spending the days on the dunes. Food options are limited but the food is great - traditional Brazilian food /hey, we're in the middle of nowhere!/. There is a friendly dog who lives on the grounds and we loved giving it some pets :)

Pousada Maktub is located in Carolina, 19 miles from Itapecuru Waterfalls, and has a garden, a shared lounge and a terrace. Delicious breakfast! Super kind and accommodating staff. Even gave me and my friend a ride to the bus station when we couldn’t find a taxi! Couldn’t recommend more!

Offering a restaurant and free breakfast, Hotel Pousada Rancho das Dunas is located in Santo Amaro. The accommodations will provide guests with a TV and air conditioning. There is also a dining table.... I am not a big fan of the "10% Taxa de Serviçio" what is spreading out in Brazil the last years, but this is the first and only time i really liked to pay it, because the Service was 1A! The place is perfect located - you can see the Dunes - the infrastrucure full of really nice details, the "Chales" have eversthing you need, and the Restaurant full of tradicional food of Maranhão! Congrats, haven't expected that in the wild wild State of Maranhão.
