Overlooking Matera’s Sasso Barisano, Fra I Sassi Residence is set in restored 17th-century buildings inside the Matera Sassi UNESCO site area. Our room had the most amazing views of the historic center. It was worth the stay just for the view! But luckily, everything else was great as well. The room was comfortable with a huge shower. The staff were absolutely lovely and provided us with vegan croissants when I told them we were vegan. For us, the location was great as it was right in the middle of everything.

Emilio is an exceptional great host. My boyfriend and I had a one-night stay in Palazzo Badiale on our way to Puglia and could have easily stayed longer. The nature surrounding the property is just beautiful and we enjoyed exploring it even more on our morning run. The breakfast in the morning in Emilios’s bakery is 10/10 and gave us the perfect taste of Italien delicates. I highly recommend staying here, also for longe periods when you want to unplug and relax.
