We were travelling by train so it was very convenient for Tendou-san, the monk, to pick us up from the Takasaki train station for a reasonable additional charge. Tendou-san knew enough English to converse with us on the 30-minute drive to the hotel. The hotel is small and charming, next to the beautiful samurai temple and garden with a koi pond. The deluxe quadruple room was very large for just two people. The kotatsu table was a nice place to relax and be warm. The futons were very comfortable for sleeping. Like other reviews mention, some of the walls don't extend all the way up to the vaulted ceiling/roof, so there is potential for noise to pass in and out of rooms. However, we were the only ones there that night (others were dissuaded by snow forecast) so we had the whole place to ourselves. We had dinner and breakfast; both were delicious with large portions. We participated in the morning meditation. Tendou-san explained some history of the temple, initiated our meditation, and then left us to finish we felt ready to be done. It was a very nice experience that I would recommend to anyone!

The staff was very helpful and took their time explaining things the best they could in English. The hotel is cute and clean! It’s small but cozy! The room was a nice size and the bed was very comfortable! The onsen was very nice and relaxing! The views of the mountains are beautiful! And the food was delicious and beautifully presented!

L’établissement ANA Holiday Inn Resort Karuizawa by IHG se trouve à Kita-karuizawa, à 34 km de ce lieu d’intérêt : Honmachi Machiyakan. The food was great.. the staff was so friendly.. And the free massage after onsen was my favorite😍.. I am surely will go back..😍

Everything was great! Comfortable room, great location, spacious bath, amazing breakfast and evening bar service. I might have been the only American there, yet it was welcoming and comfortable.

Situé à Sōsha (Gunma), l’établissement GUNPAKUMaebashi comprend un parking privé gratuit. Les hébergements comprennent la climatisation et une télévision à écran plat. Phenomenal place for the money we paid (5 people in total, around 4k¥ per person), if we could have, we would have stayed longer. If the price doesn't increase too much over the coming years, there is no reason not to recommend this place. Easy to book, fantastic place (3 separate bedrooms, each with 2 beds), great and big dining and cooking area and even an adjacent living room. If you are in the area, go for it. Heads-up though: we had rented a car (parking space is available, more than enough), so I can't judge public transportation in this case.

We enjoyed a relaxing night at ShimaBlue. We are a family of four with two teenage children and whilst it was tight, we enjoyed some relaxing time in nature. The ONSEN on the deck was the highlight. There is not much to do In the small town so this is a great place if you need a rest! The BBQ dinner was amazing (note you do cook for yourself).
