Absolutely everything here is incredible. The dinner in particular is one of the best meals I've ever had in my life with super helpful waiters who will explain each meal as it comes. Front-of-house staff are extremely helpful and friendly, and will even send a shuttle bus out to collect you from the train station and bring you back after your stay has concluded. You're greeted with a warm tea and smiling faces. The room is beautiful, large and spotlessly clean. Private onsens are reasonably priced and very relaxing. Breakfast was also delicious and the nicest breakfast I had in my 3 week stay in Japan.

The facilities were excellent. An Onsen was a two minute walk and a train station was 5 - 10 minutes. A lake was nearby and the local area was very pleasant. Access went well.

Situated just 26 km from Hikone Castle, Ryokan Beniayu features accommodation in Nagahama with access to an open-air bath, free bikes, as well as a lift. Incredible ryokan experience! We loved the tranquil scenery which overlooked Lake Biwa. Breakfast and dinner were exceptional and traditional. We stayed two nights and the meals were never repeated. We loved the in room outdoor onsen overlooking the lake and the massage chair was a nice touch. A very relaxing stay. The staff was very friendly and really tried to speak English to us. We had no communication barriers. Will definitely return and highly recommend this ryokan. Very memorable experience.

KAMENOI HOTEL Hikone provides a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 2.7 km of Hikone Castle and 6 km of Maibara Station. The staff were extremely kind and helpful. We had some delay in reaching the accommodations, but they allowed us to have our dinner right as we entered, before checking in. They also helped us to call a taxi to the train station on our last day. My mother left an item behind, and they kindly mailed it over to my address in Tokyo after we left! Compliments to the chef, the food every breakfast and dinner were so delicious, and my family and I got to try many local delicacies in the comfort of the hotel :) My parents also enjoyed their very first experience of onsen here!
