Hands down our favourite hotel of the trip. The villa is gorgeous, plenty of space for the 5 of us. The whoops of joy as our kids explored the place said it all! Private pool, incredible food, attentive staff, wildlife all around. On our first evening, the guides took us to the red sand beach, about a 20 minute walk away. Very beautiful. You walk past a lake with baby crocs, can spot iguanas and other wildlife. Magical. We booked a safari through the hotel, the jeep was comfortable, and very reasonably priced. They packed us a breakfast to take with. The service was outstanding. We didn't want to leave.

Set in Tissamaharama, 2.5 km from Tissa Wewa, Nehansa Resort and safari offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. Great service, the staff was very helpful and friendly. They picked us up at the bus station for free when it was heavy raining. They showed us crocodiles, birds, fruit bats and buffalos around the area again for free. So, when you need to go somewhere they will get you there. We also played carrom with the staff. Amazing property at a beautiful lake. Very nice getaway from the busier places in Sri Lanka. Nothing better then waking up to birds singing. The Staff is phenomenal and super friendly. Clean, a comfortable bed, aircon, hot showers, and a huge breakfast waiting when I returned from safari! Lovely family who helped organised safari & transport to Ella as well, and got me prices much better than other hotels were offering.

Set within 2.2 km of Tissa Wewa and 27 km of Bundala Bird Sanctuary in Tissamaharama, Amazon Cabanas provides accommodation with seating area. Clean, comfortable cabin with beautiful gardens and wildlife. We had already booked a safari but later found out the host also conducts safaris.

Offering a restaurant and free bikes, MOON LIGHT Guest House is located just 1.1 km from the Tissamaharama Bus Station and 3.2 km from the beautiful Tissa Lake. The property is a little out of town, with beautiful views of the rice fields, in a quiet location. The owner offered to pick us up and drop us off from town for free, gave us a tour of the area, and was super helpful in every way. We ate two delicious evening meals at the guest house, and organised the safari through them too. Highly recommended
