Well set in the centre of Christchurch, Drifter Christchurch provides air-conditioned rooms, a shared lounge, free WiFi and a terrace. This place is generally an amazing hostel. My room was spacious, clean, and comfortable despite sharing it with 7 other people (unfortunately one person was so selfish when I arrived, they put most of their belongings on the floor, barely leaving space for anyone to put their suitcase). My room had a bathroom inside, which was very useful and convenient. It is located very conveniently next to the local bus hub, and within walking distance to most of the inner city attractions. The staff were helpful and easy to find despite most of the guest access were done through an app. The kitchen was well-equipped, and there were 2 vending machines selling a wide range of stuffs, from snacks to more substantial instant meals, and some electronics and other necessities as well. The laundry facility was great and can be paid for using a payment card, and it was quite easy to operate.

The facility is new with stylish finishing. We stayed at the property twice during our NZ trip. The staff was accommodating, and assisted us with our luggage storage while we went on the TransAlpine tour package. It is a 10 mins walk to Westfield shopping centre. All the three rooms we have stayed had a kitchenettes, with sufficient cooking tools for a light meal. Bed was comfortable.

We were a bit troubled by the road closure, but the staff kindly helped us with alternative route suggestions and other concerns. They were patient and very pleasant throughout — much appreciated!

The room was perfect with a nice sea view balcony. The location was very good, half a minute to the sea and the restaurants and supermarket. The staff were very nice and kind.

It's also within walking distance of the beach, shops, restaurants, bars, and a lot of activities. If you are traveling to Kaikoura, you MUST stay here. The owners were helpful and friendly, and very patient with our change in plans for check-in and check-out. The room was excellent; there was a bed in it's own room and another in the living room with a clear view of the beach! A full kitchen was in the room, and parking was convenient. Everything was very clean and comfortably cozy.
