I had a wonderful time at the Riverstone Lodge! Sandra was the best host, always helpful and cheerful. The common rooms and kitchen were very clean and comfortable, and it felt like living in a flat share with other travelers. The location was also great, close to the town center, and a perfect starting point for the Tongariro crossing or fishing.

Great location, a short drive to the central part of town. Our room had a lake view, which you can enjoy from a covered and heated balcony, which gives it a plus if you go in winter. The room itself was really comfortable and every detail was well thought out. The spa pool was divine and the place was an oasis to relax. I'll definitely stay there again.

Plenty of tea & coffee & a fabulous NZ style breakfast with lots of choice & a huge pot of tea ❤️ Tim & Mary were fabulous hosts - welcoming, professional with lots of tips for the local area - esp helpful when it rained. We loved staying here & would also strongly recommend the Hare & Copper for dinner ❤️

Nina did everything possible to make our stay very pleasant. Breakfast was perfect, as well as the dinner when we had it at the Chalet. The wine is very good also. For our Tongariro treck, Nina prepared everything to take away and eat. We felt like home, discussing any kind of subject with Nina. As a coincidence, there is even a Cartier-Bresson black & white picture of our countryside in Seine-et-Marne (France) in Nina's living room. If we go back to NZ, we will have a stop at the Chalet Eiger.
