Located in Alexandra and only 30 km from Central Otago District Council, Rail Trail Retreat Loft provides accommodation with garden views, free WiFi and free private parking. The approach to the home is spectacular-a long tree-lined drive with overhanging branches leading to a private estate with English gardens. Our bags were delivered before we arrived and the host family had arranged to have them delivered to our apartment. We had the "loft"- a second floor apartment built upon the garage which had also been built out into an apartment. The resident of the downstairs apartment came out to greet us and was a very charming and welcoming hostess. We found the apartment to have all of the amenities we needed and we were quite comfortable, The location on the rail trail was convenient for our travel but required a significant walk to get into town for dinnner.

The location was 5 min from Alexandra, in a vineyard. The room was clean and we were in top of the hill where the vineyard was just outside the windows. The owner were very hospitality. Boasting garden views, Grey Ridge Vineyard Experience offers accommodation with patio, around 39 km from Central Otago District Council. We had the best time from the moment we arrived to when we left. Sue and Paul were super friendly and welcoming—such lovely hosts. They showed us around, offered a complimentary wine tasting (which we definitely said yes to!), and then we settled into our superior studio. It was really comfy and had everything we needed. We were pleasantly surprised to find we were the only guests which made it feel unique. We skipped the vineyard tour since it was a bit too cold, but we did go for the dinner option—and we’re so glad we did. It turned out to be a fantastic evening with delicious food, great conversation, and plenty of their amazing Pinot wines to enjoy. Breakfast was also delicious. And the view from the house? Just stunning. The garden, the vines, and the mountains in the background—it was all picture-perfect.

We located in Clyde to ride the River Trail and Roxborough Gorge. Our accommodation was central to bike hire services and cafes. There were lovely walks to enjoy and shops to browse. It was quiet, tidy and peaceful in Clyde.
I was there for a golf tournament. Absolutely awesome place to base yourself and friends. Has an amazing sports complex. I always enjoy a soak at the local pool. Lots of good restaurants to choose from. Including the RSA friendly and brilliant restaurant and atmosphere. Make time to browse around the shops
Clyde is a quiet small township off the main highway. It has quite a few cafes, art galleries etc. bike hire etc. We were touring and so only stayed one night but enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Old Post Office with plenty of locals in too.
Great cabin - if a bit small. Great view of mountain and cows. Beautiful breakfast and friendly hosts. Ate at Mexican restaraunt (seemed like the only one open). Good food and ambience. Would go back again.
Clyde is one of the few mining towns that kept its historic center. It has a lovely old town center, and lots of history. Not a ton of restaurants, but good for a couple of days. Cycling is the way to visit the area!
Alex is a great central place that you can get to all the good spots from. Much better than staying in Queenstown with all the traffic and planes going overhead. Accomm a bit more reasonably priced too
