This was a beautiful magical place. The best place to see Quetzal is near an avacado tree right on this property. The cabin is right on the river, walking distance to two restaurants with beautiful patios. The drive from Quetzales national park entrance is lots of switchbacks and you must be very careful. Look for the “unicorn lodge” sign on your left coming down the mountain in San Gerardo. “Casa monge” itself isn’t well signed from the main road. I would recommend this place to anyone, it was fantastic! Dirche, the owner, was absolutely lovey and took us out at 5:30 to see the quetzals. I would also recommend the waterfall hike about 2kms down the hill from Casa Monge- a bit treacherous at times but well worth it, 2-3 hrs total!

Amazingly friendly and helpful hosts. Fantastic views. The cabin was spotless, very well appointed, quality furnishings, bedding, an amazing find on the top of a mountain. Lovely and cool at night but warm in the day. We loved the fruit and chocolates the hosts left for us.

We were on the way from pacific coast tò Atlantic and this place was Just in the middle. It was a perfect stay for our family. The appartment Is soacious and clean. You can park just in front of the house, which Is fenced. There Is a big swimming pool and also a trampoline for the kids. We have enjoyed it
