The best part was the host Sergio who took us for a great driving tour of surrounding historical sites, a wonderful cave church covered with frescoes, the Palomba sculpture garden filled with Antonio Paradiso's work and a walk along the gravina to visit rock hewn caves. And he took us to the best foccacia bakery of Matera....

The location was perfect, the decor and amenities were excellent, and the host, Maddelina, was above and beyond expectations. She had her son find a parking spot and hold it for us on the street, very close to her apartment. Honestly, this was probably the nicest place we stayed for the money spent in our 16 day trip to Italy. Her apartment is barely outside the Sassi- only a five minute walk and you are there. She made excellent dinner recommendations . Less than a five minute walk is the restaurant Austin with Outdoor seating and Sassi views. The host went above and beyond in communications with us - the most responsive of any host on our 16 day trip. The photos do not come close to doing this place justice. Beautifully decorated with very comfortable memory foam bed and pillows. Honestly, we could not have asked or hoped for anything better. I highly recommend this property and would stay here again.

The flat is extremely big and with all needs you may require. We stayed only one night, but I wish it would have been longer. Good position and really close to see the sassi houses. beautiful balcony. great host. I stayed there with my mum and it was really comfortable.

The location was excellent for sight seeing. The apartment was on the edge of the Sassi district and a very short walk to the centre of Matera, in a very quiet street. The host had left a bottle of wine, milk, cereal, tea, coffee…enough to get us started. We were very grateful. The kitchen was well stocked, and there was plenty of linen. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in there….it was charming.

From the outside, you’re surrounded by the charm and history of the ancient stone dwellings, but step inside and you’ll find a completely brand-new, modern interior with every accessory and comfort you could want. The house is surprisingly large, spacious, and beautifully designed, combining old-world atmosphere with modern luxury. And the view — truly the BEST in Matera! We couldn’t stop admiring the panorama over the Sassi, especially at sunrise and sunset. I can confidently say this was one of the best accommodations we’ve ever stayed in. Highly recommended!
