One of the Best Hotels in Zanzibar! We had an amazing stay at this hotel for over a month, and it was truly one of the best in terms of quality service. The staff was incredibly attentive and always ready to help, making our experience even more enjoyable. The surroundings were breathtaking, and the room facilities, along with the cleanliness, exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Zanzibar and wish them continued success!

I could honestly write a 10-page article in praise of Shanuo. Firstly, yes. It’s every bit as beautiful as the pictures would have you believe. (With that said, there’s no way to truly capture the beauty of this place through a camera lens. You just have to go there to see that for yourself). Surrounded by coconut trees and brightly coloured tropical flowers, the bungalows overlook the Indian Ocean - a morning dip is a must! My room was clean and comfortable and I was provided with everything I might need during my stay. Although Shanuo doesn’t have its own restaurant, I can honestly say this has no impact on your stay at all. The breakfasts are generous and Shanuo provides drinks and snacks (at a small fee) if you’re feeling peckish. There are several neighbouring properties along the beach with restaurants. I promise you won’t go hungry! Secondly, the staff are incredibly accommodating and helpful, and you’re guaranteed to be met with a friendly smile and an enthusiastic “Jambo” 100% of the time. If you need anything, you just need to look up and someone is there to assist. A big thank you to everyone at Shanuo, but especially to Na who brought my breakfast every morning and who I had lovely chats with, to Daniel who cut copious amounts of fresh aloe vera to tend my sun burn, and of course to the manager, Gillian, who is energetic, friendly and builds meaningful connections with her guests which she uses to tailor her travel tips especially to your needs. This team creates an atmosphere that truly makes you feel as though you’re ‘coming home’. There’s so much more that I could say, but anyone reading this will begin to think I’m exaggerating. I’m really not. Do yourself a favour and just book! I’ll certainly be coming back here on my next Zanzibar adventure.

Stunning accommodation with beautiful pool, beach and excellent restaurant. The staff was very helpful and very friendly. We only stayed here for a very short while but I wish we had had more time here. just beautiful and peaceful place :)

It’s a beautiful hotel with some good sized rooms around a pool area and a lovely spot of white sandy beach. It’s a small hotel but there is plenty of space so getting beds by the pool or a hammock to watch the sunset was always easy. But small enough that if we sat at the beach we could see and hear our daughter playing in the pool. So it really is the perfect place to relax. The staff were really helpful and friendly and letting us check in early after an overnight flight was massively appreciated. The food, particularly dinner, was excellent and something to look forward to each night. The half board is a small 3-course menu with 2 or 3 options for each course and was excellent each night.

We loved the property it was absolutely worth the price! The staff were amazing, especially the chef who kindly prepared a last-minute dinner for us. A big thank you to Alice, who gave us a warm welcome and shared helpful info about places to visit. The manager was also very friendly and made us feel right at home. Big shoutout to the fantastic team — we hope to come back again!

As the name says, it a real Nature's Retreat.. Beach is few min away but it's all private.. Probably you will have all the kilometres stretch of beach only for you.. Cleanliness is pretty notable, the staff is pretty hard working. Manager Martina and her assistant Sicilia are pretty good.

From this prime location, we had convenient access to an array of island tours, while also being within a comfortable distance to the vibrant small town of Paje, rich with additional restaurants, dive shops, bars, and surf shacks. For those considering a visit to Mmenba, it is a bit of a distance, but rest assured, the immediate surroundings offer more than enough to explore and enjoy. Amenities & Tours: The hotel boasts a wealth of amenities including a lovely swimming pool, an excellent restaurant, and a cozy bar, not to mention a Cinema room that adds a touch of romance to any movie evening. Their collection of high-quality equipment for snorkeling, paddle boarding, and kayaking invites adventure at your leisure. The hotel excels as personal 'holiday planners', taking charge of organising tours around the island in a manner tailored to our preferences. Thanks to them, we experienced incredible trips including a private boat tour with snorkeling, an exploration of Muluum cave, a tour of Stone Town complete with stellar dining

Very calm hotel, close to the beach and sea, bar and r restaurant with amazing lights and helpfully people. Strongly recommend this place.
