The amenities left nothing to be desired. But the best part was the location—right on Lake Jølster, with a private boat and swimming area, yet not too isolated. You could reach Skei, with its shopping options, in a five-minute drive or a 20-minute walk. The weather—with 10 days of sunshine and nearly 30°C—was the proverbial icing on the cake. At times, we felt like we had accidentally driven south toward Italy instead of heading north to Norway.
