We made a last-minute booking at the Hare & Hounds in Newbury, and it was fabulous! They followed up our booking with a lot of questions, including if/when we wanted a dinner/breakfast booking, what kind of tea we wanted in the room, and if we were celebrating anything (which we were). When we arrived, the staff were amazing and friendly and had our dinner/breakfast booking ready and had decorated our room for our anniversary! The room was obviously newly renovated, as was the whole property. Dinner and breakfast in the restaurant were delicious and again, the staff were very friendly. Their patio looked lovely, but it was quite stormy, so we couldn’t take advantage. We wish that we could have stayed longer, and have told our friends in the area about the hotel and restaurant so that they can pass it on to other visitors. We will definitely book here again when we are in the area. Thanks!!

This was an absolute gem of a find. Set in an old inn with modern annex rooms we could not fault any aspect of the stay. The inn has an idyllic setting in a tiny village, the sort of England that American and European tourists crave, Excellent host and a friendly pub with an excellent restaurant, Nice selection of real ales too. Room was very large and the bed was excellent as was the breakfast. Got tired out throwing sticks for the pub collie in the beer garden. Can´t recommend this place enough

The scenery was breathtaking, beautiful countryside walks. Super comfortable bed with crisp white linen and a luxurious bath to soak in, not forgetting a really good shower too . Great breakfast, cereals, croissants and granary bread with farm fresh butter, preserves and milk and quality coffee. Jenny is a lovely host, and very informative about the area and has created a really homely atmosphere within this beautiful cottage along with her two very friendly dogs. Really relaxing 😌
