We booked our stay with Jhony and went on a 2 days jungle trekking tour with him and Lana. The room at his place is nice, nothing luxury but all you need is there. And the tour itself was just amazing! He's a very good guide, can tell a lot of storys and the food they brought for us on the tour was extraordinary!! Can highly recommend this!!

What a pleasure it was to stay at Cheeky Monkeys! Everyone here was so friendly and so kind, and with its lovely setting overlooking the river, you’re really in a world apart. I only did the 3-hour jungle trek, but saw the orangutans and Thomas leaf monkeys. My guide, Bambang, was not only a wealth of knowledge, he patiently told me where to place each foot while winding up and down and through jungle roots, vines, and muddy patches. Such a nice man! The transfers from Medan and back to the airport were flawless and the drivers excellent. As for the accommodations at Cheeky, descriptions here are accurate. Food was good, the impromptu guitar after dinner was fun, and the WiFi connection in my room was much better than I expected. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back in the future.

I loved my stay here! The bungalows are cosy and comfortable, located in a quiet area of forest away (but not too far) from the business of Bukit Lawang centre. There’s also a lovely river swimming spot just 5 min walk away! What made my time here the best was the kindness of Putra, Maya, and Fitraya. They are all lovely and make sure you feel at home. Not to mention, the food is amazing (especially the Chicken Rendang!) I did the 3 day 2 night trek with Putra and had such a fantastic time - he clearly knows a lot and cares for the jungle, it was such an awesome experience. Our stay here was amazing! The room is spacious, bed is comfortable, bathroom also nice and everything is clean. Also the room has a big balcony with incredible view. The staff was also great, we arranged everything we needed through them and it was not a problem. We also booked a one day jungle trek with them and it was excellent. Our guide Dani and his brother were good guides and also very nice people.

This place has a wonderful view of the rice fields. It is very quite and a few km away from the main area so on the streets to reach the hotel you get to see how local people really live. The staff is very friendly and pro active they organized the trekking (we got to see two huge orangutan!!!) for us and all the transfers we needed. They speak English very well and they bring you with the bike wherever you want. The bungalow is lovely and clean. I would return for sure. Don’t miss it!

The views, the jungle sounds, the wildlife, the exotic flowers, the river, and the fresh air helped us reconnect with what truly matters. The hotel staff was absolutely incredible. Yanta, the manager, made sure everything ran smoothly. Aca, the founder and soul of the project, is an inspiring man who has purchased 100 hectares of jungle outside the national park, in order to protect it from deforestation and the aggressive expansion of palm oil companies. Rama and the rest of the team were always smiling, kind, and ready to help with anything. This place is truly one of a kind. No pollution, no stress — just pure peace and a deep energy that you can only find in places like this. We recommend this hotel to anyone seeking an authentic, life-changing experience deeply connected to nature. It’s not just a trip — it’s a gift for the soul.

We did a 2 day, 1 night tour with them. The guide Jos and Holand were great! Jos really made an effort to show us a lot of animals and has a lot of knowledge. The trekking was a real adventure!

Our first stop in Sumatra was at Lilly's Guesthouse, where we were very warmly welcomed by her and her husband Ishako. From the first moment we felt welcome and completely at home. We booked a two-day jungle trek. Our adventure began on the second day after our arrival, together with our guide Iman and a French couple, Carolane and Romain. There was immediately a nice click, and so we trekked into the jungle together. Blood, sweat, but no tears - what an experience! Without Iman, the trek would definitely not have been the same. What a top guy! After two days of trekking and a night's sleep in the middle of the jungle, we arrived safely back at the guesthouse. How happy we were to finally shower again and sleep in a comfortable bed! As icing on the cake, we also enjoyed a wonderful massage - how good that felt! After that we wanted to travel on to Lake Toba, and coincidentally that was also Lilly's plan with her family. Transportation was completely arranged by them, and together we traveled to our next destination. Along the way, we had lunch together, took the same ferry and once again shared beautiful, enjoyable moments. In Tuktuk our paths parted, as we had each booked our own guesthouse, but we met up a few more times. Each time it was a warm reunion! What we really want to say: we felt like one of them.
