the hostel was really clean and cozy and had a very homey atmosphere to it! It was really close to the lake and a 7/11 which was really nice. The beds were big and I had enough space to put my suitcase down.

Taka-san runs one of the best hotels we encountered in our trip. He picked us up at the station and left us there after checkout free of charge! The breakfast is really good and he offers 24/7 drinks and snacks completely free at reception. He has 6-7 bikes that the guest can use free of charge, even for a full day (so convenient for exploring the lake!). He gave us excellent advice on eating and sightseeing. The camping van we stayed in has its own heating system plus the bed is equipped with high quality down sleeping bags, so we were super cozy with 0 celsius outside.

There's a beautiful hidden gem temple right next to it that was the highlight of the trip. You can also rent bikes for $15 and are right on the lake. There is actually a Mt. Fuji view from the hotel too. It felt so authentic down to the elderly couple running the place. I would highly recommend/come back again. The room was large and very comfortable. No issues with feeling cold at night or too hot. There's an AC unit. They will pick you up between 3-6pm or drop you off between 9-9:30am. Outside of these hours is $10. The cab is about $16. There is no private bathroom but it wasn't an issue for us as we were there for one night. It was very clean and I think we were the only ones using it.
