We enjoyed our stay at Sinharaja Rest very much. Maps may not for some reasons show the exact directions as there is a newer road uphill that one should take to reach the place. Relying on map directions we ended knocking on the neighbours' door but they kindly showed us the right direction : ) The place is an excellent starting point for a rainforest tour. The host organized a six hour rainforest tour for us and also took us to the bus station when we left, so we were very well looked after. The rainforest tour was awesome! We saw lots of birds, some monkeys and some snakes and our guide was very knowledgeable. Special care should be taken to keep leeches off as they are hungry and crawl faster than you might imagine. We were provided leech socks by the host that kept most of them away, but I still donated some blood to a couple of leeches. It may be a good idea to take some adhesive bandages with you to stop the bleeding. Sinharaja Rest is located at the edge of the village, so one can sit on the terrace and absorb the village sounds and listen to birds singing. We had such a beautiful stay at Forest & Fields by the Sinharaja Rainforest. Thisara, the host, runs this little gem with so much heart. The surroundings are stunning – peaceful, green, and full of life. The food was absolutely delicious, all homemade and fresh. We also had the chance to walk through the rainforest with Thisara, who shared so much knowledge about the local wildlife. It truly felt like a special and personal experience. 10 out of 10 – highly recommend to anyone looking for nature, peace, and genuine hospitality. Thank you Thisara 🌟

Location beautiful. Tucked on a hillside overlooking the jungle. Quiet and peaceful. Our host, chanaka, was very helpful and enthusiastic. He was open for any adventure and hung out with us for a night of music, dancing, and laughs.

This place is hidden gem of Mederepitya - great river and mountain views , friendly host, new cabanas with all that you need for your comfort, starry night and lot of night birds 😍 I will definitely come back again soon!

We've been in some pretty good places in Sri Lanka, but this one was definitely the cleanest and most well-maintained. Large rooms, plenty of space around, terraces, a swimming pool... the water in the pool was fantastic. And it was right next to the rainforest and bus station. You can actually watch different species of birds from the swimming pool.. The meals were excellent, different every day. Everything was perfect.

We stayed here for two nights, doing a guided tour in between. It was a super good stay. Usually, the owner himself does the guided tour. In our case, he was already booked, so his father guided us. He was a great guide, with a lot of love for the forest and a lot of knowledge after guiding people around for already over 20 years. After the tour, we had delicious food, served at the new guesthouse of the owners brother (Wildlife Kingdom, we did not sleep there but it looked also very comfortable with a great view). All other meals were also prepared by the owners wife, and after spending two weeks in Sri Lanka we can say that that was the best food we have had so far! We stayed on the top floor, which was very comfortable. Of course, being close to nature means there will be insects, so be prepared for that ;) Thank you for hosting us!

As the name suggests it is located amidst attractive scenery. Badulla my host is a botanist of repute and his rain forest walks are not to be missed. In addition super food and endless helpfulness.

Sinharaja Forest Edge is situated right on the edge of the UNESCO site Sinharaja Rain Forest. The property offers complimentary transportation to the rain forest from Mederipitiya Village.

The place was incredible, one of our favourites stays in Sri Lanka. They were very flexible with us with the tor schedule (because we only had one day to did it) and very fair with the prices. The room was very clean and the swimming pool amazing!
