Guests can make use of the outdoor fireplace or the picnic area, or enjoy views of the mountain and garden. What a beautiful place and lovely people! Casa Nelly is not a hostel it is a house shared by travellers. A beautiful garden a home-like feeling and everything is well thought to make the travellers' life easy. It is some half an hour walking from the center but it was my preference not staying in the center. Wish i have a Casa Nelly every town i go!
Villavieja
Featuring a year-round outdoor pool, Bosque Seco Bioreserva & Hostel in Villavieja provides accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking for guests who drive. The property has garden views. The guest house features family rooms. Dario, the host, went above and beyond for us and was available for any questions and advice for anything you could want. It is a bioreserva, so you should expect a dry toilet, a wonderful pool (inevitably with bugs), and limited appliances as the whole site is run on solar energy. If you are happy with these things as I was, the place is beautiful and peaceful. Bikes are available to rent as well but there is plenty around the location to keep you relaxed and occupied as well.

Loved the location - walkable to Red desert and 5 mins to the observatory (10,000 per person 7-9pm everyday). The staff were very friendly and welcoming, they organised transport for us to Neiva and we rented bikes for 50,000 per day per bike. A tuk tuk from Villavija was 40,000. If you’re coming from Bogotá you can cross the river with a ferry at Aipe (until 16:30) to save time. Private room were comfortable and clean with a fan and mosquito net. There were plenty of chill out areas around the hotel.
Pool was great for the heat, air con was greatly appreciated in the heat and the location was just a short walk from the centre of town. Room was a good size (bathroom slightly small) but the highlight was the private tour provided by the owner's son James of the tatacoa desert (which was an additional cost). Everything was setup to make it the perfect place to stay to see the desert and surrounding area. Would recommend to anyone.
Got a private room for the cheapest fare and was allowed to check-in very early (9 a.m.) and check-out very late (3 p.m.). Food reasonably priced (breakfast 10k, lunch & dinner 20k, water 4k). Room was clean and with running water 24/7. Transport back to town for 20k.
Super friendly staff, they were really welcoming and booked us a private tuk tuk for a tour of the desert. Breakfast was basic but delicious - scrambled eggs with tomato and onion was lovely! Nice terraced area, comfy beds and good aircon. Great location for restaurants in the town/access to the desert. Also super quiet!
This is a perfect one-stop-shop property if you want to explore the Tatacoa. They offer not only standard desert tours, but also custom private trips with a motorbike. I really liked it and stayed longer than I originally planned. Swimming pool was good and breakfasts were tasty. It was generally quiet during the day and at night. I also liked the rooftop terrace which was excellent for my evening yoga sessions.
