At the bed and breakfast, every unit includes a wardrobe, a flat-screen TV, a private bathroom, bed linen and towels. The bed and breakfast features certain units with pool views, and the units have a terrace. Very nice hybrid concept of a hotel with breakfast but you can use the kitchen and facilities during the day. Fantastic spacious rooms with very comfortable beds and exceptionally clean, you could eat from the floor. Warm showers and great location to do sightseeing. This is 100% owned by locals who put their heart and soul into it. Definitely would recommend.

Units are complete with a private bathroom fitted with a shower, while some units at the bed and breakfast also feature a terrace. At the bed and breakfast, each unit is fitted with bed linen and towels. First, to speak plain: the land is Eden itself. Gardens spill their green abundance, the view flows wide as a hymn, and the hush of nature wraps the traveller as a cloak. The host, Sergio, is a man of rare courtesy and deep knowing; his tales of Costa Rica carried us far beyond our chairs, so that we travelled the breadth of the country without once leaving his porch. Each dawn brought breakfast: eggs fresh and forthright, toast crisp, cheese modest yet true, coffee and tea brewed with sincerity. Our chamber, though compact, held all we needed; the shower head rained down with a vigour that quickened the spirit, and though the hot water sang its song for only two minutes, it was a vivid two minutes, sharp and bracing, like a baptism of the tropics. The architecture itself delights in its simplicity, a row of cabins bound together as though carriages upon a railway, joined by a balcony that becomes, in essence, a grand salon. We had this gallery entirely to ourselves—four neighbouring rooms stood empty, so the balcony belonged wholly to us, our private stage set against the mountain air. A sentinel camera watches over this shared space, lending a sense of safety to those who wander it by moonlight. The room within, small but sufficient, asks one to live lightly, to dwell not in clutter but in the essentials: a hanger of four arms sufficed for our coats; the mattress bore us well, firm with its springs, while our own pillows, brought from home, made the bed familiar. The bathroom, too, spoke of intention: a modest bin reminded us to waste little, to tread with care. The presence of life is everywhere. Ants marshal and patrol, reminding us that the house stands in communion with the forest. Mosquitoes are thwarted by nets thoughtfully placed, so slumber remains unbroken. Even the house cat, peculiar of visage with a head grander than its body, insists upon friendship, pressing close, purring, licking with unabashed honesty—a beast as singular as the place itself.

Situated in Carrillo and only 200 metres from Carrillo Beach, La Puesta del Sol B&B features accommodation with sea views, free WiFi and free private parking. This bed and breakfast offers a garden as well as a bar. Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with a picnic area. The room was wonderful, the presentation of the bed looked so nice I didn’t want to mess it up! It was quiet, location is great, nice view, short walk to the beach. Owner and staff were very friendly, breakfast was delicious. Nice semi personal patio and hammock outside although it was too hot outside to use. Lines to hang clothes to dry. Shower pressure was fantastic. I also took a horseback ride through the beach and jungle and it was the all time best ride I’ve ever had. It was called Horses Paradise, Playa Carrillo and my guide picked me up at the hotel with my horse.

Guests at the bed and breakfast can make the most of yoga classes offered in-house. Sightseeing tours are available in the surrounding area. Guests at Casa Donna Rosa B&B can enjoy cycling nearby, or make the most of the garden. Carlos and Werner have created the most amazing experience. Their home is just so comfortable and has everything you need. Carlos’ cooking is fantastic! If you’re lucky enough to have the Deutsch pancake you’ll love it. Werner was so good with the tours and really took the time to make sure I had the best experience, suggesting options that weren’t on my radar but were fantastic. Thank you for such a wonderful stay.
