I was welcomed with open arms and smiles. The staff couldn’t do enough for me to make me feel welcome. I spent a lot of time sleeping between riding fresh powder and enjoying other guests’ company. The beds are so comfy. Everything was perfect. I felt at home and was always given a delicious breakfast too.

I opted for the breakfast one morning - they made a big homely Japanese breakfast for me.. Most importantly, the host and his wife are the loveliest people - he would arrange to pick you up at the station and every night would check what your plans are for the next day and send you to wherever you are planning to go. I was going to walk out to look for dinner myself one night and he came out to give me tips on where to go, and warned me that the place I wanted to go to might be fully reserved. Every night when I get back to the accommodation he’ll come out to greet me and ask where I’ve been and whether I’ve had fun. So much warmth staying here! ☺️

Hakuba Skala Inn has both Western rooms and Japanese rooms, which have traditional futon bedding on a tatami (woven-straw) floor. All rooms are heated. The hosts were very kind and helpful. The Japanese-style room was very authentic and convenient. The neighborhood was calm and quiet. The bust station super close too.

Three of us stayed here for 5 days. We had the best time! The accommodation was extremely clean and comfortable with great facilities, including a storage area for all of our ski and snowboard gear. There’s also a bus station right down the street that takes you to Iwatake (which you can then transfer to another bus that takes you to every resort.) The best part were the owners — they were so kind and welcoming even though we did not speak Japanese. They cooked us breakfast and dinner and both were so delicious. We highly recommend and would definitely stay again! Thank you so much for the wonderful stay😁
