Extremely quiet and secluded. Contadora Island has very little on it, there are no restaurants, cafes or shops, just a few boutique hotels and lots of magnificent private villas for Panama City's high net worth crowd. For a few days of relaxing, boat watching and lying on an uncrowded beach with other adults it's bliss. Private beach, and gorgeous views of the sea and coastline. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly
We arrived in Hostel Wunderbar from Panama City the day before we headed on our boat trip of the San Blas Islands from Linton Bay Marina. It was the perfect place to rest up before our boat trip. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful - organising a taxi for us the next morning to get to the Marina. It is a quiet Hostel with everything you need for a short stay.
Jimmy is an amazing host and tour guide! We had an amazing time, the beaches were beautiful and he arranged for a boat ride to see the different islands, very hospitable, excellent host and a great place to vacation:)
Located close to the historic city center and right at the entrance of the canal (in a green environment). From the swimming pool you can see large container boats right in front of you. Otherwise nice hotel, in a calm environment, few nice close by restaurants.
We love this small hotel on the water with the balconies... great views especially from 3rd floor. Comfortable very clean rooms.. Great location near many restaurants , boats, peddle vehicles, easy access to hwy to central Panama , Casco Viejo and downtown Panama City. We have spent an 85th Birthday and 30th anniversay with family groups. We all enjoyed it very much.
Monkey lodge is a real gem - the family who run it are wonderful, and the food was wonderful. The setting is incredible. They organised transfers for us, and we paid extra for a boat tour where we got to hand feed monkeys - a once in a lifetime experience.
One really cool open dorm room, 14 sounds daunting but makes sense when you're here. Staff and volunteers really nice and offer free salsa, yoga etc. Free breakfast and coffee. Could leave my bag here an extra day when on a boat which is super useful. Area nearer city centre so feels safer.
We liked the view of the canal from our balcony. We booked a premium ocean front room and we’re glad that we did.We watched lots of boats and birds. Bring your binoculars! We liked that we could walk to and along the Amador Causeway. It is 10 minutes and a $10 cab ride to Casco Viejo. Breakfast buffet looked quite comprehensive but you can also do ‘a la carte’ which we did being vegetarians. Nice gift shop, buy your souvenirs here as there are none at the airport.
The rooms were sparklingly clean and beautifully arranged by Gloria. Breakfast was delicious. There is a lovely garden with hammocks to relax in. Sergio and Gloria went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed out stay. Sergio took us on a wonderful tour in his boat, far up the river. It was very beautiful and peaceful, only passing a couple of other boats all afternoon. We highly recommend this property.
