The owner is super nice person! She helped me to plan my trips, she gave me bus time schedule, she offered to prepare home made onigiri and tea every day so I had a snack for my trips. She knows some basic words in English but she can easily translate everything with the Google Translator. Almost all parts of the house are shared, very friendly atmosphere. Toast bread and coffee/tea are available for a breakfast. There is only one restroom and bathroom but I never had a problem to get there. Great location next to the airport and bus stop and drug store. Not noisy, its almost like in the forest.

This is the most beautiful cottage, giving a real sense of tranquility in the stunning Yakushima. It felt like a home away from home, and the hosts are so warm and welcoming. You can feel how much thought and time has gone into making this cottage as special as it is. I was in Yakushima to reunite with a friend, and this was such a lovely setting to return to after our daily adventures around the island. This must be the best place to stay on Yakushima - the garden is as beautifully kept as the cottage. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

The owners are very friendly. As I didn’t have a car they would help me schedule my day with bus timings one day before which was very cool. They would also drive me to and back local restaurants in the evening and the recommendations have been on point.

The house is superb, functional and the setting is incredible. Thank you to our host for booking the rental car on the island, it helped us a lot and it went very well. The bedding is comfortable, there is all the necessary equipment for a pleasant stay. Accommodation to recommend whithout hesitation. The Onsen by the sea, a 5-minute walk away, is incredible. Luana House can be accessed by the island bus, a bus stop is located directly in front of the house, and unlimited rides tickets (1, 3 or 4 days) can be purchased at the ports of Miyanoura and Anbo or at the airport for example. All sightseeing spots can be reached by bus, though renting a car is recommended for flexibility. The house is located on the southern coastline of Yakushima. From the terrace, you have a nice view of the ocean, and you can relax in one of the armchairs or hammocks and just enjoy the scenery. I had the western-style bedroom, which featured a sink and mirror in the room. Toilet and shower are shared with the room on the opposite side, and the kitchen is shared with everyone. All areas were nice and clean. The owners were the friendliest and most helpful hosts I ever met. I was offered a ride to some sigthseeing spots or to the town of Onoaida for grocery shopping or dinner. The host even provided some hiking equipment, as I was not prepared for the heavy rain on one of the days. Generally, the service far exceeds what you would expect from a pension. Overall it is one of the most memorable stays I ever had.
