The two people running this were lovely 💕 I had a great stay. Great super market nearby, which had good quality products to eat in the evening. Also, a short morning walk to visit Cat Island in the morning and then I visited the Manga Musuem. The room itself was clean, large and Japanese style, which I enjoyed. One of my favorite stays in 30 days of being in Japan.

This local ryokan has real character, decorated from walls to ceiling with colourful posters and various toys of Japan, from classic to manga. The manager couple are just as nice. She had written out a welcome with basic information in Spanish for me, as my reservation shows it as country of origin. The room is comfortable, complete with towel and pyjamas, plus a water kettle and cup with teabags. If you're on foot, it's 27 min to Ishinomaki station and 18 min to Haneda station- the latter gets you the Matsushima-Kaigan.

Set in Ishinomaki, Simamegurinoyado Sakai provides accommodation with a public bath and an open-air bath. This 3-star ryokan offers a 24-hour front desk and a lift.

Amazing comfort with great views, exceptional breakfast and dinner buffet. Multiple open-air and indoor public baths, a sea view lounge with free soft drinks and coffee 24 hours a day, snacks etc in the evening. Beds are 5-star quality. Plenty of space in the room, modern amenities. Sea view is postcard quality. Wifi is good. Plenty of sockets in the room. There are souvenir stores with a wide range of local goods. Buffets are splendid value, with Japanese and Western dishes made to order in front of you, self-service international cocktail and wine station, comparable to Turkish-style ultra all inclusive. There is an English menu. Hotel is within walking distance of the JR station, but there are also taxis queuing when a train arrives. Close to attractions in Matsushima Bay. Hotel has a fleet of bicycles and e-bikes for reservation.

Set 10 km from Shiogama Shrine, Traveler's Wharf Shichigahama offers accommodation with a balcony, as well as a garden and a bar.

From checking in to checking out the process was excellent. All relevant information was provided verbal and written on a hotel brochure in English and Japanese. Buffet breakfast and dinner were included in the price and buffets were very good. Location from Takenouchi station was about 800 metres from the hotel. The onsen was very good. There was welcoming drinks 🍸 from 1400hrs to 2300hrs. In the morning there was soft drinks and coffee. The area was very quiet and peaceful. The hotel did provide a shuttle service to the Matsushima station at certain times.

I had a wonderful stay at House Active. I stayed for two nights, and although it's located in a small town, that was exactly what I was looking for—a calm and relaxing escape. And that’s exactly what I got. The staff were all lovely, and the owner, Ryodai, was incredibly kind and welcoming. On my first day, I joined the kayak tour with Ryodai and two other guests. I highly recommend it if you enjoy kayaking or being outdoors—it was such a fun and beautiful experience paddling out into the sea from a nearby beach. After the tour, Ryodai even took me to the local supermarket, where I picked up the cheapest (and surprisingly delicious) bento box I’ve ever had! I also needed help with a parcel during my stay, and Ryodai went above and beyond to assist me. I truly can’t recommend this place enough if you're looking for a peaceful stay near the coast with genuinely kind people. Also Ryodai speaks amazing english.
