The dinner and breakfast course was incredible.

I love the super delicious dinner and they prepared for us. obasan is very friendly and helpful. thank you for borrowing me a bicycle that I can enjoy cycling at such a wonderful place.thankful and greatful to find this place. it's peaceful, quiet , clean and comfy. fully recharged and away from the chaotic city

Loved the location and the staff were so helpful. The children really enjoyed the freedom of cycling around . All communication was friendly and prompt . Shuttle service was fantastic!

The room was very spacious and even had a sauna. The private bath was very nice, and also the public ones were beautiful. We really loved the service too, we had a very nice service by Serika-san who we also loved talking to. Really appreciated the shuttle bus service.

The facilities, the location (green, peaceful), the food and most importantly the staff. Everyone was very friendly and very helpful. If you want to get a way and experience good old style, traditional Japan. This is the place to go.

Momijiya was our splurge night of the trip - well worth the money! We booked a room with a private outdoor ceramic bath next to the river with a tree-line view (one of only two, I believe - definitely worth it). Making our way there, we came up on the JR bus from Kyoto. When we were wandering around the mountain roads like lost lambs trying to find the property, our lifesaver appeared out of nowhere asking if we were going to Momijiya. I can confirm they have a shuttle service to and from a couple of Kyoto stations, it would help if I read my messages the day before. Being driven down to the property was like entering a fairytale valley - so beautiful!! The staff were there to welcome us and I loved the touch of removing your shoes at the lobby which magically reappeared when we left the following day. The lobby was beautiful with a zen garden and fire-pit (??) I had a bit of time to try the public onsen before dinner which was okay, but not as well kitted out as some I had been to. There is a general issue with slightly outdated porcelain ware (toilets and sinks/showers). All well kept, clean and functional though. Where Momijiya wins is the staff, the location , the traditional feel of the property and oh my goodness, the FOOD!! We had a half-board plan which included dinner on the terrace by the river (note drinks are a separate charge) and breakfast in the upstairs tatami. We were given Yukata which we wore to dinner and breakfast for that authentic feel, loved that! The food was traditional Japanese and both dinner and breakfast were epic meals beautifully facilitated by our servers. I didn’t know what half of it was but everything was delicious and stunning! And you will not leave hungry! After dinner we retired to our room and I spent three hours in our outdoor bath taking in the night - an oasis of calm in the midst of a very busy trip. We loved Momijiya, it is in our top two stays of our trip.

This absolutely wonderful Japanese inn deep in the forest was everything we ever dreamed about visiting Japan! We stayed in a beautiful Japanese style room and enjoyed dinner, breakfast and a private hot bath. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by the friendly staff who provided excellent service all throughout our stay, making us feel relaxed. Location Is beautiful and we instantly felt relaxed in the green forest, the bath was stunning with a quit view over the forest and the staff helped us right away to book it with ease. The dinner was a experience on its own, we were escorted to a nearby restaurant located on a terrace hanging over the river. Food was outstanding. We warmly recommend this inn to anyone visit the area and would love to visit again ourselves! With all you get included in your stay it is also very priceworthy!

Everything! The couple who manage are super nice and welcoming. It’s really a great escape in the countryside of Japan with traditional experience. Everything was perfect and highly recommend it!
