This hotel is well and truly off the beaten track! Clever because wherever you have arrived from it means you have driven through lush countryside to get here and it really has been worth your while. Set in grounds that boast access via a jetty to Gal Oya Lake, this hotel is reminiscent of a private country club. The limited guest accommodation lends an air of exclusivity while its spacious suites have tastefully decorated bedrooms with large adjoining bath/dressing rooms; double flyscreened doors take you onto your verandah with a vista of the huge lake beyond the palm trees and pool. Meals are served in a separate open sided pavilion overlooking this vast property. All this has been thoughtfully designed by one of the hosts, Thomas a renowned German architect, to complement the surrounding spectacular views. Guests are made to feel most welcome here by Dinesh the other host and his team, Mohan and Samson. Jeep or boat safaris can be arranged by the staff and kayaks are also available onsite if you wish to explore beyond the hotel’s shores.

We spent 2 night and we did a Safari. What a great hotel! The tent is very spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They were so nice for the kids. The surroundings are beautiful. We can highly recommend this hotel

Amazing place, awesome food - something special

My family (including teenage boys) and I had a wonderful stay here. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming and produced a delicious supper and breakfast for us. We were positively surprised by the beautiful setting - if I could post some photos on this site, I definitely would! The property is surrounded by beautiful palm trees, wonderful fruit trees around the back and amazing spices, as well as a luscious green paddy field, all of which the host kindly showed us. The property is opposite a very pretty river and not far from the Gal Oya lake safari start. Would definitely recommend!

Nice place in a sleepy village at the gates of Gal Oya National Park. The owners are very friendly and will help you in everything you need. Good knowledge of the local fauna, in particular birds. A good opportunity to taste the real Sri Lanka, away from the crowds in Ella or other tourist spots.

Great hosts and incredibly kind family. We did a Jeep and a both safari in the gal oya national park, which were organized by our hosts. I can highly recommend both types of safari. The food was really delicious. Our hosts also drove us to our next stay in trincomalee (5h!) what we really appreciated.
