During the past years, I rated very few houses with "magna cum laude". Karu ō te Kiwi fully deserves this rating. Beautiful and peaceful location, privacy, unobstructed views, birds singing everywere... The house... simply charming. Rented houses, although beautiful decorated, seems to look, usually, like empty shells. But not Karu ō te Kiwi! It looks like a very loved house, bursting of character. We are very grateful because we felt like the owners shared with us not only a house, they shared with us a small piece of their life. Karu ō te Kiwi was the trigger for our trip to New Zealand: it was love at first sight. I found it on internet and I started to build our vacation, piece by piece, around this property. Karu ō te Kiwi inspired also Santa: he brought us a new coffee machine ;).

Amazing place right on the beach arounded by the woods. Old beach house is very cozy and suny. We loved to wake up in the morning during sunrise. Really good equiped kitchen and living room with lot of family games. I reccomend this place to chose if you want to stay in the middle od the nature and near places as wharariki beach or farewell spit. We enyoied every moment here.

We had a wonderful stay at Twin Waters Lodge. Trish and Mike are fabulous hosts, and looked after us and the other guests beautifully. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and the ensuite bathroom modern and well designed. The guest lounge/kitchen is great and it was lovely to prepare a couple of light meals there so we weren’t having to eat out all the time. The lodge is quiet but an easy 10 mins drive from Collingwood. It’s also great for getting to Farewell Spit. We had 3 nights there and loved every minute.
