Location is perfect among the dunes. Dinner and breakfast were tasty. Wildlife was everywhere

My wife and I began to consider our options as we followed a stranger in a foreign country into the empty desert to stay at a camp we weren’t sure truly existed. Sure, Oman has ridiculously low crime rate, but the possibilities of what awaited us were endless. After a 20 minute drive through bedouin camps and an empty sea of sand we were relieved to find the camp as pictured on the site. However, shortly after setting up for bed, the camp was hit by a storm which was extremely rare to the area. I stood there for 30 minutes holding the pole of the tent from inside, so it didn’t collapse on us, as the rain and wind pattered the canvas. If I could go back in time to the moment we started our journey… I would do it a million times over. Thousand Stars is a passion project started by Ali and his companion, and cared for by a truly honorable and wonderful caretaker - Sadam. It is not a 5 star resort run by a board of trustees with millions of investment dollars. It is 3 men, who put their blood sweat and tears into each and every night. We started the evening off by having tea, coffee and fruits with Ali and discussing life. Shortly after, Ali ensured we were comfortable and left us to be. We were the only couple there that night so we had the whole camp to ourselves. There are usually 2-3 tents available per night. My wife and I spent some time chatting under the moonlight, but called it early as we saw a storm approaching. Sadam was working hard to cover the dining tent with a tarp so that we could be comfortable while eating dinner. The storm came, and yes, there was a short bit of time where I had to hold the tent up but this was no fault of the camp - just nature. Despite the storm, Sadam trekked over to our tent from his to make sure we were ok. Right after the storm ended I heard the roar of a car. It was Ali again, who drove all the way back just to make sure everything was ok.

Situé à Al Wāşil (Al Sharqiyah), l’établissement Bubbles Domes Private Cmp comprend un parking privé gratuit. Unique, remote but with all the comforts of home. Peaceful but exciting, fantastic glamping tents, luxurious with a private deck. Food was delicious. Staff were outstanding. Said was a fantastic person.

L’établissement Moon Light Camp vous accueille à Badīyah. Certains logements sont pourvus d’un coin salon et/ou d’une terrasse. Un petit-déjeuner buffet, continental ou végétarien est servi sur place.... Great host and memorable stay. Amer was always available, informative, with a good sense of humor! The access to the camp needs a 4*4 vehicle. He managed to schedule the pick-up and drop off on time. I recommand 100% !

Situé à Badīyah, l’hébergement Rashid Desert Private Camp propose une terrasse et un barbecue. Cette tente de luxe comprend un parking privé gratuit et une cuisine commune. Rashid was super kind and hospitable. The camp was in a pristine location with no one else around. The tents were new and comfortable. The food was delicious and there were fresh dates, coffee and tea available. We were chatting with Rashid the whole night and he was sharing interesting information about the country and religion. We also crashed our car in the dunes and Rashid helped us out with a local workshop who fixed our broken parts. All in all we can only recommend this camp.

Situé à Al Raka, l’établissement Arab desert camp propose des hébergements dotés d’un coin salon. L'endroit est calme, le personnel est adorable. Une mention spéciale pour Badr qui était aux petits soins. Ce fut un très agréable moment et une soirée après dîner au coin du feu avec chants et danses traditionnelles. Le lendemain, le petit déjeuner était excellent et très copieux

From the moment we booked, we received clear and consistent communication about the arrangements for our stay in the dunes. We were picked up at the said location (easy to find) and the two brothers that runs it made us feel at home, they ensure that we were comfortable and also offering tea and snacks. We had dinner on the location, it was very good and they ensure the menu was according to our food restrictions and preference.

Hassan est un excellent cuisinier. Nous avons mangé comme des rois. Ahmed est un hôte chaleureux qui a à cœur de partager la culture bédouine. Nous occupions les deux seules tentes et nous avions l'impression d'avoir le désert pour nous seuls.

L’hébergement Nomadic Desert Camp se situe à Al Wāşil. Cette tente de luxe possède un parking privé gratuit et un bureau d'excursions. Des serviettes et du linge de lit sont à disposition. A beautiful camp in a beautiful location. If you're looking to go quad biking and other obnoxious activities this isn't the place for you. Abdullah and his team run an authentic camp oasis in the dunes, with delicious food and copious amounts of coffee and dates. The sunrise camel ride was fantastic and is a must do. The camp staff are the loveliest people you will meet in Oman and they also have the best sense of humour. If you're looking to experience the desert properly then this is the place for you.

This one night was the pinnacle of our 6 week trip. I would encourage everyone to spend a night at the Sultan Private Desert Camp. Our hosts were amazing and the camp itself was beyond spectacular.
