Two weary cyclists arrived for one night. We were delighted! Ines—one of the owners— is warm and welcoming. Our room was splendid—comfortable, lovely, overlooking the beautiful pool. Breakfast was perfect—obrigado Patricia! We liked this beautiful Solar ( a former school where Ines was a schoolgirl—how cool!) so much that we stayed one more night! My friend left for work in Lisboa and I stayed for a third night! One night turned into three because it is so delightful! I have cycled 94,000+km around the world and have stayed at well over 1000+ hotels around the world on every continent except Antarctica—Solar Dos Frades is one of the best! Obrigado Ines! Great location in the small quaint town of Castro Verde. Lovely selections of breakfasts included and made by the owner Susana who hosted us and gave us great recommendations around the town. She even has a small vegetarian restaurant located next door for lunches and dinners. Comfortable room with full kitchen and air con. We even met a woman at breakfast who lived briefly in the small town we are from - all the way in New Zealand! Great stay all around, highly recommend if in the area. Thanks Susana!

The property was stunning both the apartment and the grounds. We were just driving home and wanted a stopover for an evening, but I would have liked to stay much longer. We had a lovely sitting room, kitchen, and balcony with a loft bedroom. The interior was creative, clean, and just very nicely done. The grounds were incredible with a shared outdoor kitchen, sauna, pool, and hottub. We went on a great hike to a local river beach. The host was incredibly kind and attentive! We will be back.
