Dario, the host, went above and beyond for us and was available for any questions and advice for anything you could want. It is a bioreserva, so you should expect a dry toilet, a wonderful pool (inevitably with bugs), and limited appliances as the whole site is run on solar energy. If you are happy with these things as I was, the place is beautiful and peaceful. Bikes are available to rent as well but there is plenty around the location to keep you relaxed and occupied as well.

Located just a 10 minutes walk outside of Villavieja, this beautiful cabin works great as a starting point for exploring the area. The family that run Casa de Campo were so friendly and attentive. They made it very easy to gain information about getting to the desert and arranged affordable transport to the grey desert and Villavieja for us. It was walkable to the red desert and a short walk to the observatory. The lunch was tasty and they catered for me as a vegetarian. We would absolutely recommend this - it is decorated beautifully, very clean and there are lots of areas to relax and hammocks to chill in after your hike. They have lovely pets too!

Great location, lovely owner who was very helpful with tours to the desert and info about town. Free filtered water is a nice touch, especially in the desert. Bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean.

Very friendly family, no English but they really try and help you with transport. They keep the whole area very clean. Everywhere cosy hammocks and seats. We got upgraded to a room with a private bathroom. Good location near the observatory, 2.2km walk to the red desert.

Location is right between the red and grey deserts and across the street from a nice astronomy spot. Very cheap. Very quiet and peaceful. The guy is super friendly and helpful.
