The Alte Post is a 300 year old coaching inn. Downstairs the restaurant looks traditional and the food is great! We ate here, outside in the evenings, 3 times during our week's stay - go for the Hawaiian curry chicken :-) . The food is as good as if not better than the food in the main high street restaurants and as it was so hot it was good to be able to eat at our hotel. The breakfast has a choice of eggs cooked specially for you and a buffet style breakfast bar to choose your own meat, cheese, cereals, fruit, yoghurts and bread. The staff were all very friendly and didn't laugh at our attempts to speak German (I'm sure they were laughing inside!). We had a room on the north side of the building on the second floor, which was cool in 30+ degrees. We regretted bringing such heavy cases as there is no elevator - however the staff helped us with them on arrival. There is a little sun terrace on the second floor and we enjoyed reading outside in the evenings with the swifts flying over head. Lindau has everything you need and you can walk around the island's coastline through parks and pathways. Check out the garden pot and statue shop in one of the old railway sheds as you walk past - good thing we were flying home or our car would have ben full! We went by ferry to Konstanz, Mainau Island and Bregenz - all lovely, and if you love gardens, Mainau is a must - the Italian rose garden was in full bloom - heavenly. We also went to Ravensburg and St Gallen by train (trains and buses are free with the Lindau Card - you get this on arrival at your hotel). The whole area is lovely and there are lots of walks and cycle routes around the lake - would definitely have another holiday here.

Our hosts were so accommodating in every way. Spacious room, super comfortable bed, excellent value tasty breakfast. Went out of their way to ensure we got our breakfast before an early train. It was lovely to stay in the old town in the Old School which was immaculately clean. Would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone staying in Lindau.

Lovely quiet hotel. Newly refurbished and everything fresh and new. Lovely comfortable bed and good bathroom for what we needed. Spotlessly clean. Lovely fresh breakfast, nice choice. Very close to the lake and the pier. Stunning views. We found an amazing Italian restaurant Gondola. The food was the die for. Beautiful walks in the apple orchards and wine vineyards and across the lake you can see the mountains on the Austrian side. All rather lovely and relaxing.

We had a glorious week in this beautiful apartment. We just loved watching the view of the mountains and lake change with the weather. I just loved lying in the hammock and watching the sky.     The location is great: directly on the Bodensee. You can simply walk into the lake for a swim (bring water shoes). The town Wasserburg is also very nice. It's close to Lindau, and it has a harbour with ferry services to different locations around the lake. I took the ferry to Rorschach, Switzerland, and from there, the cogwheel train to lovely Heiden up in the mountains. The studio has a beautiful new rain shower and separate bathroom. I also liked the shutters. They block all the sunlight, so you don't wake up early in the morning.
