Marvellous establishment run by superlative hosts Yumi san and family. The true essence of Japanese hospitality - at its very finest. This home has everything you need for a luxurious stay. It’s got such a beautiful feel from early on in the morning when you feel the crisp air. We particularly loved the private hot spring, and most of all, the host was obliging, hospitable and wonderful to engage with. We had such an incredible time in the little town of Azumino, which had so much to do! The town has many fruit farms and rice paddies and is just a beautiful countryside escape. We really felt such a great sense of community in this town and met such lovely people. Make sure logistics are well organized - we had to take a train and then rent a car to get here, but it was totally worth it. The drive itself was a treat with autumn foliage throughout the mountains. If in doubt, just do it. Especially if you’d like to get away from very packed touristy spots in major cities.

My wife and I spent 2 nights here as we explored the surrounding mountains - we hiked up to Enzanso hut and Mt. Tsubakuro. The owner was extremely helpful with our planning as she helped us with the rental equipment that we needed for the climb (we could have it delivered to the guest house a few days in advance). She also informed us of the current weather/snow conditions on the mountain...thank you so much again for this, we really appreciated it!! Otherwise the guest house is very nice, clean and brand new. We saw there is a yoga studio in the same facility - but I suppose that is aimed more for local/Japanese visitors - it looked really nice though.
