The owners are brilliant, so kind & welcoming and amazing hosts. They live nearby so any issues were attended very quickly - as good as a 5 star hotel in terms of hospitality and service. They provided a welcome pack with many basic items (egg, sugar, salt, oil ect). The property in itself is great! A gem of a place!

I selected Ferney as it was the closest hotel available to the airport and the nature reserve looked beautiful. I was unfortunately only able to stay for one night and arrived very late so was not able to do any of the walks or activities although the looked very nice. Ferney was helpful in arranging a driver to collect me from the reception in a 4x4 to take me to the lodge at 9:30pm as my flight came in late. They served me the full dinner and spared no details which was well received. Dinner was smoked marlin starter, amazing venison steak with mashed potatoes, veg and salad with brownie and coconut ice-cream. The bed was very comfortable, air conditioning appreciated, and there was absolute silence because of the remote nature of the property. Breakfast had a lovely spread of fresh fruit, yogurt, cold meats, cheese, jams and toast. You get an individual basket of two freshly baked croissants and pain au chocolate. Eggs of your choice were made to order. In my tiny time there, without venturing at all, I saw manycbirds, a rabbit and a mongoose. All staff were very pleasant, friendly, and went the extra mile. It is not the typical Mauritian beach holiday but a nevertheless wonderful, nature-filled experience.

In short, I definitely recommend staying in Shanti Nivas, I loved my stay there. Jay and Henry were very welcoming, helpful and overall great hosts. Their warm personality makes Shanti Nivas so exceptional. The rooms are spacious, airy, spotless clean and equiped with all the necessary amenities, including net against mosquitos (very useful). Balcony with outside seating area is again spacious and faces the beautiful garden Jay and Henry created. The garden is simply beautiful and it contains sizeable part of all Mauritian plant species (not kidding!), including impressive papaya tree and range of other plants, which attract fruit bats and various bird species. Definitely take the breakfasts, they are served in the garden and very yummy - selection of tropical fruits was lovely, but for me the special highlight was the omelette, the chats, and the red cardinal bird of course :) Also best value for money from the places we stayed in. The only thing to consider for pedestrian travellers is that the road to nearest beach or anywhere outside of the village is a for the adventurous folks as there is not much space for walking on the road and locals drive fast, but you can take local taxis/buses and if you have a car, this is no issue.

Very good and quiet place with great views from big terrace. Rajesh and Madhvi are very kind and attentive people. For breakfast we have fruits, fresh bread, coffee, tea, butter, milk, jam, cereals. Big thanks to Rajesh, he helps us to make a trip to Island and the cascade nearby in our last day of stay.
