We spent two nights at the camp as part of a 2 1/2 week trip to Oman. We were met in town by Muhammad, the brother of the camp owner, who is very proud of the camp. We followed him in our 4x4 as he escorted us to camp. Upon arrival we were taken to the sun shelter and were served coffee, dates and refreshments. There was always plenty of food and drink for our entire stay. The camp consists of two guest tents, a dining tent, daytime sun shelter, kitchen tent and bathroom shelter with shower. Everything is done in a traditional way and is spotlessly clean. Muhammad is justifiably proud of his camp and how it is run. We also met Hasan at the camp. He is the camp cook but does much more than that. Hasan has a very engaging personality and always has a smile on his face. He regaled us with stories and answered any questions we had. Did I mention he is an outstanding cook! we enjoyed some of the best meals on our trip at the camp including a camel biryani (sorry vegetarians, plenty of veggie options as well). We chose this camp because it is small and we really wanted to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the desert, and that is exactly what we experienced. another highlight was an excursion to Muhammad’s village/oasis where he has a house and they have date palm trees, mango and other fruit trees, as well as grow alfalfa for the goats and camels. The visit was another highlight as was driving amongst the dunes in the desert. Thanks to Muhammad and Hasan for a truly memorable experience.

The cottage had everything we needed - including private bathroom, warm water and electiricty. The breakfast and supper prepared by the staff were delicious.

Staying at this Omani desert camp was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by kind and hospitable staff. Rajid (sorry for misspell) is man in charge and he does his job well. The camp is located right next to the dunes, allowing for breathtaking views and easy access to the desert. The highlight of our stay was the dune bashing experience—our driver was absolutely perfect, skilled, and made the ride both thrilling and safe. Watching the sunset from the top of the dunes was magical. Also best spot for sunrise just 15 minutes of walk on near dune. The tent (fabric) —featuring comfortable (i prefer hard) mattress, ensuring a great night’s sleep. The bricked private bathroom few steps from tent was clean and well-maintained, which is not always the case in desert camps. So magic of staying in traditional tent yet with luxury of flushing toilet and shower! In the evening, we enjoyed a beautiful night by the fireplace, sipping traditional Omani coffee and tea, available 24/7. The dinner buffet as well as breakfast buffet all freshly prepared and full of flavor. This camp truly offers the perfect balance of adventure, comfort, and hospitality. Whether you’re looking for a dune experience or a peaceful retreat under the stars, this is the best place to stay in Wahiba Sands. Highly recommended!
