Bairnsdale is a good country town with supermarkets, cafes and other shops. There is a train staion and local buses. There is a river with nice waterside walks. The resort was wonderful, I cannot fault anything at all. The place was clean, comfortable and the staff all went out of their way to accommodate us! We enjoyed great food at different venues and visited Painsville, Lakes Entrance and did sight seeing in Bairnsdale. The Information centre was a great help. Bairnsdale has many good cafes, pubs and restaurants - lovely places to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner. We generally visit to see family, but Bairnsdale is a great base from which to explore all the local attractions - including, for example, the Buchan Caves.Guest review byPennyAustralia - 8.0
Bairnsdale is a large country town.
Bairnsdale is a large country town. The Catholic Church as you you enter from the Melbourne side on the left is definitely worth a visit. A volunteer is available and has a wealth of information in relation to the church and history of the area. Not to be missed. There are plenty of shops, the Potted Pear, gift wares, is great. There are museums, historical and Aboriginal. Bairnsdale is a lovely place for a day visit.Guest review byJoanneAustralia
