Brilliant sample of country Victoria/Australia; genuine warm country welcome amid towering gums, native bushlands, great birdlife and cute animals.
The easy walk through bushland to town delivers great food, sensational wine list and great morning coffee.
...and I'm a professional tour guide showing tourists around, so I'm a well-informed "purchaser"

Dunkeld is absolutely stunning.
Dunkeld is absolutely stunning. The Piccaninny trail had great views of Mt Sturgeon and Mt Abrupt as well as the beautiful valley. Parker street project was a great place to wine and dine. The Dunkeld Old Bakery had great coffee and an excellent carrot cake. Izzy’s cafe also had great fish and chips and tasty supplies for a night in. Would highly recommend Dunkeld as a weekend away.

Dunkeld is full of wild life - watch out for the wallabies and kangaroos and emus, they are everywhere, especially on the roads. Visit for the walks and trails and the incredibly peace of Grampians with out the business of Halls Gap.

This lovely property was very large and provided all facilities. Very suitable for self-catering. The setting is stunning - teemed with birds and other classic Australin wildlife. We spent most of our time just soaking up the location from the patio. A car is necessary for access as the property is a little out of the village. Car also required to access the walks and sights within the nearby National Park. Don't arrive late as we did - by 7.30pm all shops and eateries in Dunkeld were closed and we had to drive to the neighbouring town of Hamilton to find food.

A terrific little town which has been revitalised so well - with lovely amenities (except fresh fruit and vegetables), but good coffee ( the caravans are great for coffee and pizza). Easy to walk around and it has easy access to walks further out of town. The pub of course is excellent as are the restaurants!

We wanted to do several southern Grampian walks. For this Dunkeld is the perfect base.
The town is tiny so plan your evening meals carefully. At the time of our visit the options were basic and very limited.

The cottage was beautiful , really nice touch with the spa in the room after long walks through visits to the Grampians. Private veranda to sit , the serenity was beautiful with big trees and well maintained gardens with your own Webber Q BBQ.
Short walk into town to have an amazing lunch at the Royal Hotel ( Packer st project)
The fire was perfect for our June winter long weekend stay with endless firewood.
Quiet forest location. Private and peaceful. Good bush walks. Friendly staff with good local tips. Bakery (the old one) in Dunkeld fantastic. Lodge had good water pressure, good kitchen, fair air conditioning (might struggle when real hot) a warm wood heater.
We loved our stay at the cottage. It was perfect for our dinner visit to the Royal Mail Hotel. It's super cosy with the fire place! Beds comfy and the place is just set up as a great holiday house.
