I liked the facilities and friendly service by staff. I would recommend to stock up on citronella candles or insect repellant if you wish to enjoy the outside common areas as mosquitoes are everywhere once dusk is approaching. Overall I would stay at this place again if travelling through to Darwin again and highly recommend to other travellers

The springs are what you go to Mataranka for and they didn't disappoint. Mataranka Springs & Bitter Springs are both good places to visit. Take a swimming noodle with you - they can be bought at the local BP which also serves a good breakfast and coffee.

This was a great hidden gem.
This was a great hidden gem. The Mataranka Thermal Pools were fantastic. Alas Bitter Springs were a disappointment, given the hype from others who have travelled there. They were quite smelly and manky.
We stayed at the Territory Manor and this was a great spot!

There isn't that much here, but the Bitter Springs is a definite visit. The water is warm so when you get out, you'll feel quite cool which was a bonus for us Southerners!!!! Market on Sunday during the dry was small but very well patronized. I did have things on board that I sell, and did quite well. Entry is free for all, including stall holders which is a good thing.

Mataranka has some lovely things to visit they have great springs for swimming. Depending on time of arriving at destination 1 day is longer enough. Unless you have better accommodation than us then you could stay longer. We had a great meal and entertainment at Territory Manor. There are great springs Rainbow and Bitter Springs. I would avoid staying at Mataranka Roadhouse. Y
