For a first time visitor, Port Hedland was interesting.

For a first time visitor, Port Hedland was interesting. There is nothing much to do (other than walk around the jetty area). The sunset was beautiful, the long walk ways on the beach front was a great way to enjoy the town. Of course you could join tours to go on the water or to the Salt Lake etc.

We can highly recommend the Seafarers Harbour Tour, but book early as they can only take 13 people each day. Ray's at the Hedland Hotel is the best spot in town to grab a drink and a great meal to enjoy the views over the ocean. The Dalgety House museum is well worth a visit, it's really interesting. The Esplanade has the most delicious and fresh food. Pretty Pool is a great place for a swim if it's hot - but the locals tell us that you should wear reef shoes as there are sometimes stone fish. The new Marina is worth a visit, and you can walk for km's on the coastal walk path located near it.

Comfy bed in a great location overlooking the ocean. The accommodation is separate from the pub and nice and quiet. The pub is undergoing renovation and when finished is going to have the best beer garden in Port Hedland. For now it means building works and tradie radio at 7am. The staff are friendly and staying here is real easy. Definitely a good choice to stay in Port Hedland.

This was a surprise. No accomodation in port Hedland. This one came up and is basically a mining camp. However the double room ( donga ) was comfortable and spotlesslessy clean and tariff included a 24 hour mess to eat in. Receptionist was lovely and showed us to our room.

Very friendly staff. Room was pretty average, but comfortable and providing all the essentials travellers look for. The hotel has a very good restaurant and they also include a good continental breakfast with the cost of your room.
