A great place to start when you fly into Hobart.
A great place to start when you fly into Hobart. Just over 20 minutes away from the airport. This small town is packed with historic sites, shops, and eateries, and surrounded by an excellent wine region. Riversdale Estate would be top of our list! Richmond was a lovely stopover, full of history and old school charm. We had a car which made it easy to get around. Richmond Bridge was beautiful, a great place to enjoy coffee and watch the ducks and time pass you by. Richmond Gaol was fascinating, reading all about the early days and life as a convict. Richmond is a very pretty town and a great place to stay in, if all you want to do is relax or day trips to various natural attractions. Hobart is within arm's reach if you are driving, so need for city action can also be easily fulfilled. Being a quiet town though, food and drinks may be difficult to find after 8pm. There are great cafes and walking lanes for the daytime. My husband enjoyed playing golf in the mornings while I would walk around town. We would then take advantage of the long summer days and drive out - Eastern Coastal Drive, Mt Field National Park, Hobart MONA Museum, Bruny Island, Maria Island etc.Guest review bykavitaSingapore - 10.0

Richmond Botanical Co, opposite the maize, is our favourite shop. Richmond is a very pretty convict town and easy to walk to all the sights and very quaint shops. We were limited to only one place to eat mid-week the Richmond Arms Hotel. Richmond is only 18 minutes to the airport for a very easy hire car drop off.Guest review byDonnaAustralia - 10.0
