We spent just one night at the York Palace, and were delighted with the accommodation. Nola and Richard were warm, friendly and extremely helpful hosts - it was a pleasure to meet them. We stayed in one of the heritage rooms and it was spacious, clean and very comfortable, with a lovely balcony looking out into the town. We would have been very happy to stay longer, and York is a charming little town, with lots to see and explore.

Paula and Stephen welcomed us on arrival. The accommodation was excellent and exceeded our expectations by a long way. The hot tub was an extra we were not expecting and was much appreciated after a long drive. Extremely spacious and comfortable accommodation. Paula provided a very tasty breakfast. Highly recommended.

Located a few minutes from town, Hope Farm was exactly what we needed after a 4,500 road trip. Relaxing and calm with friendly sheep and chickens for company. Our welcoming host Jo provided the perfect cooked breakfast and gave us a selection of dining options in town. York is a charming example of a Western Australian country town.

The accommodation was very clean and tidy, was lovely to have 2 beds in 2 of the rooms so we didn't have to share a bed (we were a group of ladies) so was great to have the extra toilet. I had a swim, I loved the animals their was a baby duck and 2 baby chickens. Overall a good place to stay.

The location was great as we were on a long journey from Fremantle to Wave Rock. York, WA was a good break point, and we loved the town (I was born in York, UK). The Settlers House was well positioned in the town of York and easy to find. Ample car-parking a bonus. Our room had air-con, microwave, toaster and fridge, so making breakfast was easy. The hotel does provide breakfast and evening meals if you don't want to cook. There is also an excellent Fish & Chip Shop a few doors down the street. The Settlers House gave us a BIG Aussie welcome, and that helped to 'settle' (pun intended) us in. I just want to add a note about Wi-Fi; very simply there isn't any ! That's not a complaint, in fact it rather amuses me. I was able to get a passable connection by means of my own SIM card, but I also took the opportunity to have a detox from the virtual world to enjoy the history all around me.

York is a beautiful old town with an impressive town hall, an emporium with interesting antiques, other antique shops, nice places to eat, a car museum with the smallest German police car you would ever see in your life, a swing bridge, a great wall, even the local IGA is above average for a small town.

A lovely historical town with quaint shops and a real country feeling. The Corrugated Farm shop in the main street has really unique, hand- made crafts and recycled goods, plus the Good Shop for all things fresh and organic. A couple of hotels for good food, plus the Bakery and Jule's cafe, the Chinese cafe and pizza cafe all on the main street Avon Tce. More cafes up and down the main street as well, in easy walking distance. The town has lots of festivals, craft workshops and events so check out the events for the dates you visit. A great place for a few days or just drop in on your way through the early settled wheatbelt towns about an hour's drive from Perth city.

York is quaint with many old colonial buildings but we found that unless we paid attention to the time, shops and cafés were shut. We visited Northam and Toodyay and it was much the same, they seem to come alive on the weekends. Recommend visiting The Residency Museum in York and the Bilya Koort Boodja Centre in Northam for a better understanding of the Nyoongar Aboriginal people and the context of colonisation.

York would be a great place to stay for a few days if aware of when it was open. Be aware and don't go Monday to Wednesday as few shops on the Main Street are open. Unfortunately, we arrived on a Monday. The only places to eat was a cafe (breakfast / lunch) and one pub (lunch/ dinner). The IGA and info centre plus a very few shops were open. The sock factory was disappointing as simply a shop to buy - nobody demonstrating or explaining the process. There was a very short film but no sound so you didn't know what was actually happening. It closed at 3pm. The one pub being the only place open to eat Monday night was packed and we waited an hour to get our meal. (No fault of theirs, they were run off their feet!).

A lovely property full of character and just outside York. A spacious well furnished bedroom and a large lounge/ dining room in which to relax. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful - home made granola, fresh fruit and yoghurt, a full hot breakfast as well as home made bread, honey from the farm and other conserves. An interesting and extensive garden .

Host was very helpful, as the accommodation originally booked had to be altered. Very close to York township, which was old but well maintained by the people of York. Was a shame it was only an overnight stay. Restaurant/pub recommended was very nice to eat at.
