I am an alumni of the University of Saskatchewan (Ph.D.

I am an alumni of the University of Saskatchewan (Ph.D. 1975). We had a memorable trip because my wife and I visited Saskatoon after 50 years. It was a nostalgic trip. We revisited the little apartment on Temperance Street which was our home in 1974-75 (as a graduate student). When we left Saskatoon in 1975 it had a population of 135,000. Now (in 2025) the Greater Saskatoon has grown to a metropolis of +300,000. We could not recognize many neighborhoods. The university has expanded significantly. The campus is not only big, it is one of the most beautiful campus in Canada. Most of the buildings have historical architecture, Visitors should take a tour of the campus. Also, the South Saskatchewan River that runs through the city adds to the natural beauty of the city. There are several bridges that are tourist attractions near the downtown. There are many good restaurants in Saskatoon. We ate at Red Lobster. There are several good Mediterranean and Indian (South Asian) restaurants. Chinese restaurants in Saskatoon have a good reputation. Driving through the city is easy.

Saskatoon is always horrible to drive around compared to other cities of its size. You spend your travel time waiting at stop lights that are not coordinated. As well, left hand turns at stop lights are way too short causing long backups. So unnecessary.

Saskatoon has many nice views around the South Saskatchewan River and has lots of wonderful places to eat. Navigating around the city was quite difficult unless you have a GPS in your car. Tourist information places were either closed or non-existent.

It's probably the most metropolitan city in the province.

It's probably the most metropolitan city in the province. The river makes for a nice backdrop, and overall it's pretty easy to get around. Make sure to visit in the summer however, as the winters are miserably cold.

We've stayed at this hotel quite a few times over the last 2 decades. The Covid-19 virus caused many hospitality businesses to struggle with recovery, but this one seems to have done quite well. The building is aging, of course, but we were comfortable in our room, and family members from Saskatoon were pleased to visit us during our stay. It represents one of the better hotels in the city in this price range, we believe. So, we're staying here again!

I can’t say enough good things about my stay at the Alt Hotel, Saskatoon. The room was spotless with a beautiful view on the river and the bed was very comfy. I really appreciated the quality of the complementary coffee in the room. The localisation was perfect to me. The front desk staff welcomed me with genuine warmth and friendliness which added a nice touch to my stay. I highly recommend the Alt Hotel!

Location was great if you are staying downtown. Urban downtowns are what they are, so take that how you like, but the HS did a good job of providing security (locked parking and key-card entry to lobby, without seeming militant or unfriendly. The pub downstairs is great, and the staff was very friendly and attentive.

First time staying at a sandman hotel. Very impressed! Modern, quiet and very affordable. The location was great for us as it was right on circle drive, close to the yellowhead hwy. There's also a Chop resteraunt on site which was very convienient and great place to dine without having to drive somewhere.
