FAQs about hotels in Vancouver

Outstanding Capital of the Outdoors

Vancouver is an outdoorsy city ranking among the world’s most livable, sheltered by Vancouver Island and the Pacific Range mountains. The most famous peak, Grouse Mountain, is a favorite spot for hiking and skiing. Take the cable car up for magnificent views of the city's skyscrapers and huge Stanley Park.

Skirting this park is the Seawall, a popular biking trail with paths passing the Vancouver Aquarium, picnic spots and a pitch and putt course. There are also a couple of beaches, but the best ones are along English Bay in Kitsilano.

Granville Island is just across False Creek from Yaletown and houses some quirky shops and markets. Ferries depart from here to near BC Place Stadium and home field of the city’s football and soccer teams. The legendary Vancouver Canucks ice hockey team play next door at Rogers Arena.

With the largest Chinatown in North America, Gastown is the oldest part of Vancouver and is near the Canada Place cruise ship terminal.

We could go on and on about British Columbia's biggest city, but we could never do it justice, so why not try it for yourself? Booking.com has a fabulous range of accommodations, from hotels near Vancouver Airport in Richmond to downtown B&Bs and motels near all of its ferry ports.

Vancouver is beautiful and has a lot to experience and you need a full week to enjoy it. People have been really friendly and helpful. It is important being mobile and have a car so you can visit most of the places as everything requires at least 30 minutes to an hour of travel and transport is expensive and difficult to navigate. Be prepared with a good budget as everything is quite expensive and the cost gets worse if you have a unfavorable exchange rate.

We enjoyed generally our stay in Vancouver , visiting Stanley Park, Granville Island , Whistler and Queen Elisabeth Park. Everyone we interacted with was kind and helpful, Canadians from Vancouver are nice people. We loved staying on the upper east side around Mt Pleasant, but we moved downtown for a few days. The walk from our Apartment in Keefer Street in the city to Gastown was like walking through the movie set of "The Walking Dead" , and I am not even exaggerating. Something needs to be done to break up that homeless enclave down there, and who decided to decriminalize using life wrecking drugs like Crystal Meth ?

The hotel rates are exceedingly high.

The hotel rates are exceedingly high. Hotel taxes add considerably to the cost. This will chase away visitors. There is a limit to what people will pay for a vacation. Unfortunately this note will end up in the trash and go no where...

Vancouver is a beautiful, vibrant city.

Vancouver is a beautiful, vibrant city. We felt safe at all times. The waterfront & Stanley Park were great for walking. We rented a car and drove up to Squamish & Whistler for a day. The mountains are spectacular. The subway is clean and accessible and it is worth taking the ferry over to North Vancouver. The Hop on-hop off bus is another great way to see the city and visit the sites.

Used to live in Vancouver a while back, great city.

Used to live in Vancouver a while back, great city. Check out Ground For Coffee and get a iced cinnamon roll(s) and coffee, Kitsalino shops West 4, Robson St, BC stadium to get Vancouver Canucks stuff, and the Ukrainian Village Resturant, 815 Denman. Not a flashy restaurant, but to do for food!

Loved the great many shops and sights.

Loved the great many shops and sights. Huge drug problem, many looked like dead bodies and could have been, sick people on busses and the floor of busses. The constant smell of drugs and smoking it.

Hotel room was impeccably clean. We had a room with a lounge area and kitchenette of really good size. The bathroom was generous in size and all facilities were modern, comfortable and pleasant to the eye. Staff were very helpful (within a busy hotel). We couldn’t fault in any way. My partner used the swimming pool (another plus). We would stay again. Hotel is convenient for the city centre train (direct to the airport) and walking around Downtown is easy from here.

This is the best value in Vancouver. I've stayed at every high end hotel and while the Parker isn't five stars, the price is for what you get. Clean, comfortable, an INCREDIBLE rooftop bar and restaurant where I enjoyed half price caviar and bubbles on Sunday, and a short walk to shopping. There are great little touches like kick lighting under the bed and L'occitane amenities. Love the Parker.
