I'd been to Castro several times, but this was my first during high season, and I'd advise travelers that unless you like sitting in backed-up traffic ('taco') for long stretches, just avoid Castro from mid-January to late February, when trying to drive from anywhere north of Castro to anywhere south of Castro can take hours. November-December are great, however, and I'm told March is the best month of all. By and large, Chiloé's charms are not to be found in the cities.Guest review byDan

Pablo who runs the hotel was great. When I arrived they were doing a free bbq and I was invited to join - with wine included. Everyone was very warm and friendly despite my lack of Spanish. They don't do the bbq every day, I think I got lucky. but even without the bbq I will return because there was such a good atmosphere.
