FAQs about hotels in Beijing

From Chinese Dynasties to Cultural Dynamics

A world-renowned gem, sprawling Beijing has magnificent monuments and peaceful parks. At its heart is the world’s largest square - Tiananmen, surrounded by important museums and the amazing Forbidden City. This 15th-century, walled complex of palaces neighbours Jingshan Park and Beihai Park with its imperial garden.

Opposite Tiananmen Square is the ultra-modern National Centre for Perfoming Arts, a beacon of the city’s culture so impressively displayed at the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the Bird’s Nest Stadium.

To its east is the UNESCO World-Heritage listed Summer Palace, a lakeside retreat of emperors, while also UNESCO listed is the grand Temple of Heaven in Chongwen district, where remnants of Ming dynasty city walls are visible. Nearby are several hutongs, narrow alleys whose traditional architecture contrasts with wider, modern roads including Beijing Financial Street, the city's business area.

The most popular Beijing shopping street is Wangfujing, and other must-see sights include the giant pandas at Beijing Zoo and the Great Wall of China, an easy day trip from Beijing.

As you would expect from the capital of the world’s most populous country, there are a good number of 5-star hotels in Beijing on Booking.com, mainly in the Dongcheng and Chaoyang districts. There are also several hotels near Beijing Capital Airport in the north-east.

Beijing is a must-see for anyone travelling to China, I recommend a few days there. The Forbidden City, the Great wall and the Summer palace are must-see for anyone interested in historical architecture and experiencing an ancient culture. However, there is also plenty to do besides that - the hutongs are an amazing way to experience traditional culture in the modern day, as well as buy handmade souvenirs and jewellery. There are massive modern shopping centres with plenty of Chinese and international brands. There are traditional restaurants and swanky modern bars. There is also Gubei water town, offering a great day-trip for anyone wishing to see a bit of nature and quaint town houses. Beijing offer something for everyone.

Beijing is a very vibrant and exciting city. Lots of historical and cultural sights. But foreign visitors need to be very well prepared as it can be very difficult to communicate with the Chinese because a great percentage don't speak or understand English.

Spend the time exploring the places of interest, especially forbidden city, we were there for 3 hours. We also tried pottery, and spent about 4 hours at the museum and making a ceramic bowl. The culture and history is rich and worth your time exploring the city in a slower pace than rushing to tick off checklist.

the city is easy to get around on your own by taxi or metro.

the city is easy to get around on your own by taxi or metro. The city feels safe with the police on the street, and the mobile policestations. Even though it a really big city it's soo quiet because of the EV cars, scooters and bicycles. The city has a lot of culture to offer combined with the new modern parts of the city. Beijing is totally worth the trip

I loved the location of this hotel. Right behind Wangfujing Road and a mall under the hotel which was accessible through the hotel as well. The hotel was also on a waking distance (+/- 20 min) to the Tianamen Square/Forbidden City. Metro was also on the corner, but we did not use this. Another thing that we loved was the breakfast! I have been in many 5 star hotels with great breakfast, but this was really great!

with an expected arrival of 02:00 at Daxing I booked this hotel close to the airport before heading into Beijing... we were delayed so arrived at 05:00 - and where immediately picked up by the hotels shuttle bus driver... (first time in China and not speaking Chinese, so we were very happy to crash in your bed... ) Luxe all around - great beds, coffee, tea and staff told us we could sleep late - no extra charge !

Lovely hotel near the centre of Beijing, nice enclosed courtyard with a bar and draught beers. Courtyard also has a washer/dryer for clothes that’s free to use. Speaking Chinese is a bonus (obviously), but if you don’t speak Chinese they have translation services for tourists.
