I did not expect much of Urumqi but was very pleasantly surprised by especially the Grand bazar area. Although partly touristy, it’s lively. I really enjoyed the red hills too. Unfortunately the Heavenly lake was too far away for just a couple hours, so I did need more time in Urumqi! Just the city is big and so are the distances. Hopefully by 2027 the 2nd metro line will be in use which connects the main (Wulumuqi) train station. That would help.Guest review byPieterSweden

The staff gives a small towel, gel and shampoo and toothbrush and toothpaste. The rooms are pretty clean. They also sell food and drink in the hostel, and they organize some trips to some natural spaces close to Urumqi. The location of the hostel is very good, close to the bus and train stations.
