Beautiful place close to downtown (about a 45 minute walk). We booked to stay the last two nights before leaving Costa Rica. Very friendly staff, had one excellent dinner at the restaurant. Nice room with everything you need. Free parking just across the street.

I really liked how clean and well maintained the property is. The rooftop terrace is excellent value, a perfect spot to relax and take in the beautiful views of the neighborhood. The service was also outstanding; the staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. I arrived just in time for the meet-and-drink event, which was a brilliant opportunity to socialise with other travellers. I even met a few people heading to the same destinations as me, which worked out perfectly for sharing rides.

Clean, quiet, located 2 minute walk to gold museum. Helpful, staff. About 2.5k directly down central street to Sabana park which is excellent for running or walks. Grocery store half a block away. Several choices for breakfast. Bus from airport is $2. Downtown bus station is a 10 minute walk. Catch the bus from the front of the international airport.

The staff were so friendly and helpful and the breakfast was outstanding! The restaurant right next door is the best place i have ever dined in. The dishes were inspired by the owner and I recommend eating at the bar and chatting to him , as he is a food genius!

Vibrant busy city with lots of interesting things to see and do. Name a brand and you can find it in the stores although it may be a bit on the pricey side. The one thing that struck us almost immediately was how clean things are, and the people are warm, welcoming and patient with us folks who can barely speak Spanish.

Excellent port of entry to visit lots of Costa Rican gems!

Excellent port of entry to visit lots of Costa Rican gems! Whether you are looking for adventure or chill beach vibes, this is the place with lots of access to tours from the city. And the city itself has a very robust historical, art and cultural experiences. Would recommend. Predominantly Spanish speaking, but lots of nationals will speak some English! So language barrier isn't a huge concern.

We spent the first and last night of our trip to Costa Rica in San José, but in retrospect, that was one night too many. Due to the traffic chaos, it simply takes too long to get to the hotels in San José, so you lose the desire to really explore the city.

San Jose is a patchwork of beautiful sites amidst a chaotic mess of traffic-riddled highways. We didn't really stay long enough to give it an accurate review, but our short stay was not encouraging. We spent most of our time in Costa Rica on the Pacific Coast, which was quite pleasant.

In general the city hasn't much to it - the best part is getting out on tours to see some nature! Traffic is also terrible at peak times, sometimes tripling the time is takes to get somewhere. Overall I had an enjoyable experience, but was reliant on tours, organised activities, extensive research on restaurants and Uber to get around.

As much as we like the hotel we we're impressed with the city It was dirty, sad and unpleasant city while la fortuna is exact opposite I hope they work in San Jose and improve the city. It really could attack people if this city will clean up with some good parks and development Good luck

This is a lovely authentic old colonial family house converted to a hotel..It's excellent value for money. The staff & owner are very friendly & go out of their way for their clients.The breakfast is light & very nice. The hotel is very close to lots of lovely outdoor restaurants & coffee shops in Escalante, one of the best areas in downtown San Jose, so it's worth checking out. All in all, this hotel is excellent value & we will certainly book it again upon our return.

A good four star hotel with everything you expect. We stayed here before and the standard rooms are spacious and well appointed. This time, we were bumped to a suite which was very comfortable. The lounge area is big and comfortable. The bar is good with meals at reasonable prices. The garden and pool area is very pretty. It's a little way out of the centre of San Jose, but very convenient for the airport, with a free bookable shuttle.

We enjoyed everything at the hotel. The staff was exceptional. Always willing to help and accommodate our needs. The suite was just as comfortable as can be. The layout of the room was wonderful. Just really enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was great. We don't have any complaints. We come to San Jose area a lot so we will be staying again!
