We had a wonderful time exploring Germany's largest town...
We had a wonderful time exploring Germany's largest town square, with its arcades, shops and other attractions. There were also open-air concerts taking place in the Kurhaus event location. It's also a great base to explore the southern Black Forest from. Freudenstadt will also be co-hosting the state garden show in 2025 (together with the neighbouring town of Baiersbronn) and so we plan to return!Guest review byKenGermany - 10.0
Freudenstadt was much nicer than I'd expected.

Freudenstadt is a good base for exploring the river valleys in northern Black Forest. Nowhere is too far, for example Baden Baden about 45 mins away. City feels like a safe place, the central square, said to be biggest in Germany, has a number of restaurants and a small brewery, Very pleasant place to end the day. There are all the usual supermarkets: REWE, Lidl, Aldi. Plenty of service stations. Huge parking under town square. Charming village with lot of dining options; endless hiking routes possible for young and old through the famous black forest; not too crowded like some other more popular desitnations in the black forest area. The bedroom was ample and very comfortable, let alone clean and furnished in a very cozy way. Breakfast was excellent. I must say that the staff was very friendly and efficient. I had to call during the night for a technical question and the man who answered was so kind and, needless to say, immediately solved the situation. The pool and mini golf were nice for the kids and us. Also, the sauna is well maintained. The stuff in the reception ws great gave us a card for free activities in the black forest.
