FAQs about hotels in Hamburg

The Real Venice of the North

With more canals than Amsterdam and Venice combined and over 2,300 bridges, Hamburg is an independent city-state with Europe’s second-busiest port and one of Germany's most popular soccer teams, Hamburg SV.

No trip to Hamburg is complete without a visit to the city’s old warehouse district, Speicherstadt, and the popular harbor promenade, the Landungsbrücken. The best and most popular way to explore the city is by boat or ferry so you can truly admire the stunning architecture and the city’s waterways.

The impressive City Hall and the popular St. Michaelis church will awe any visitor, and music fans should look for the Indra and the Star Club, where the Beatles played between 1960 and 1962. For a different look at Hamburg, moonlit strolls on the Reeperbahn will bring visitors through the largest red light district in Europe. Hamburg is famous for its local dishes, Birnen, Bohnen and Speck, Aalsuppe and open-faced sandwiches with cold-smoked or pickled fish. The laid-back cafés of Schanze neighborhood and barbecues on a beach along the Elbe River are great ways to relax after a day of sightseeing.

The city center is accessible from Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel Airport and Hamburg-Lübeck Airport using either train or bus services. Whether you’re looking for a luxury hotel, traditional apartment or youth hostel, Booking.com has everything you need for a vacation in Hamburg.

    Delightful city.

Delightful city. Great food, walks -- both urban and along river, through forests. Extremley tourist friendly and you will have no problems eating out, shopping, asking people for help if you get lost as people are very kind. Or at least that was my experience. There is a quiet sophistication to the city and there is much to see in the downtown area, and enjoy riverside cafes. I must say I did not expect to enjoy Hamburg as much as I did.

This was our first time in Hamburg and I am very impressed.

This was our first time in Hamburg and I am very impressed. We were only there for 1 day and a half, but could easily stay a whole week to experience everything. Recommedation: Take the city tour hop on hop off bus, do a full circular route (90 minutes) and make notes of where you would want to spend more time. Then take the bus again (ticket is valid for the whole day) and get off at specific interest points. This will take a whole day. Definitely do the Miniature wonderland. But again, put aside a lot of time for this. This place is incredible!!! Do one floor (2 hours), have lunch, and then do the other floor. (2 hours). Take ferry 62, its included in public transport. Great way to see the city from a different angle.

Highly recommend Miniature Wunderland, that was cool but I advise getting there as early as possible because it gets very busy which makes it less enjoyable. The food is cheap in there looking at their website, but you can also being your own which is nice. The zoo was also good, but expensive (£26) for it's size. You also have to pay almost the same price to get into the aquarium as well, so we didn't bother with that. Hamburg in general seems like a very expensive city, coming from London, things were almost the same price such as food & drink in a lot of places. You can save a little money by getting the HVV app to buy transport tickets. Visually, there is so much graffiti in Hamburg, it's everywhere. I don't think I've seen that much in any other city I've been to. But besides that, the public transport was clean and I didn't feel unsafe in the city.

I've spent longer periods in Hamburg...this was merely a layover on a trip where I was en route from Denmark to southern Germany and the Alsace (France). Hamburg requires a least a week to enjoy its museums and night life. It's a fantastic place for both life and history.

The sad part is communication gap, especially coming from an English speaking country and most people reluctant to speak back to me in English but in Deutsch was something shocking 😲. Especially, I went to the DB centre to buy a ticket to Dussedolf, the sales assistant reply all what alI asked for in Deutsch deliberately . She was ab elderly person though. I pleaded with her that I am trying to be rude not to be able to speak in Deutsch to her but she will still reply me in Deutsch. This was not a good experience in Hamburg

Hamburg is a vibrant, maritime city with culture, nightlife, and plenty of charm — ideal for a weekend trip or longer stay. The Port of Hamburg is its beating heart, offering boat tours through canals and the Elbe River. The Speicherstadt (world’s largest warehouse district) and the futuristic Elbphilharmonie concert hall are must-sees. For relaxation, the Alster Lakes and city parks give Hamburg a calm, green touch. The Reeperbahn is famous for nightlife and music, while areas like Schanzenviertel are great for street art, cafes, and boutique shops. Food lovers will enjoy fresh fish at the Fish Market on Sundays and Hamburg’s own specialty, the Franzbrötchen pastry.

“The staff is super friendly and really takes care of the guests. The hotel is very clean and meets all the requirements. Though it looks simple, it offers a very comfortable stay. I stayed in 5 different hotels in 6 days in Hamburg during a busy week of events, when it was difficult to find hotels, and this place surprised me with its good staff, calm atmosphere, cheaper parking prices, and proximity to the airport. I also appreciated that they allowed me to check in a little early upon request

Close to the airport and is about a 20 minute walk away. Note that Google and Apple Maps will try to guide you up and over the BundeStrassen433 highway but you need to follow the Flugafenstr. as it is a lot safer and probably quicker. There is also a great Greek Restaurant Lindos a short walk from the hotel on Röntgenstraße 61, 22335 Hamburg, Germany

The hotel is in a sensational location, not far from the centre, with which it is very well connected, yet in a quite secluded setting opposite a lake surrounded by greenery. An ideal place to relax, but also as a base for exploring Hamburg. Very helpful and communicative staff. Rooms with stylish interiors. Tasty breakfasts with options for everyone.

I’m a repeat customer having stayed cab 20 many times now. I mix up my hotel accommodation staying 4-5 star as well as more quirky, boutique and cabin too or should I say Cab20. Variety is the spice of life and Cab20 “does exactly what it says on the tin”.

Lovely old school building tastefully and thoughtfully renovated into hotel. Echoes of its past in some unobtrusive corners . : ) Great location too, nearby 2 x U bahn stops. V handy to reach Hamburg city centre yet slightly out so quieter.
