    An elegant small city (so easy to cover on foot) with many attractive buildings in addition to the sensational 'Schloss' (castle/palace). The lakes add to its charm. I was sorry to find that the main art gallery was closed till Autumn 2025.

    We stayed 3 nights. We spent 1 full day in Schwerin.

    We stayed 3 nights. We spent 1 full day in Schwerin. The castle is more impressive from the outside but as it is not expensive it's OK to visit. German and English information boards in every room that is open. Don't bother with a guided tour unless you are keen on German history. We went at 10.00 a.m. and avoided the crowds which we saw later. Schwerin Cathedral is worth a visit and only 2 euros to climb the tower for some good views. But overall the town is a bit ordinary, or maybe we had already visited prettier and more historic towns on our way there... There is a big, busy and modern shopping mall in the town centre. Perhaps this has harmed the commercial success of the shops not in the shopping centre? Our day trip to Wismar was a more interesting day out - harbours, old town and more.

    Only a one night stop-over but we found it to be a very interesting city that we will return to explore and visit the castle. Temperature was 30c so we did not walk around too much but found Markt Square for a refreshing beverage plenty of restaurant choices for dinner.

    Our favorite city so far. Peaceful, beautiful, great food. The lake is amazing. I’d love to hire a houseboat and drive around. The castle is stunning. The buildings and cobblestone streets feel like you in Europe of old. We would come back and stay here a month. It’s only 1hr by train to Hamburg.

    Nice little town with a fantastic castle. We went to Lubeck as well and as that is bigger it is more set up for non German tourists. We had a bad time in the Schloss orangery. Poor and rude service. But this seems standard in a lot of restaurants in Schwerin (except the typical German ones but they are usually always fully booked. It's useful to book these in advance). The bar by the boats that also does food is very nice and service was excellent.

    Beautiful old city. Not so crowdy.

    Beautiful old city. Not so crowdy. Amazing views to the castle and parks. Nice old town with grate places to eat. A lot of lakes around all old part of the city. Possibility to walk all day long, sunbath, go to castle museum, take a boat trip.

    Without a doubt the best aspect of the hotel was the location, right in the heart of the city and within a 15 minute walk of the castle. plenty of restaurants and shopping within 5 minutes walk. We parked our car and and only returned when we were ready to leave for home. Oh yes the parking was right around the corner and at 10 Euros per 24 hours very affordable.

    The workers at this hotel are super friendly and helpful. We arrived very late at night but we still felt very warmly welcomed. This is nowadays unfortunately not so typical in the hotels anymore. The location for self drivers is perfect: near to highway and a shopping center, outside of the crowded city center + huge parking place:-)

    This hotel is located well if travelling to Schwerin by train. A simple walk away from the train station. Out of the station turn left to end of the road then it’s there on the right. Then it’s a pleasant walk beside one of the cities lakes to reach the city centre and old town with the castle just beyond that.

    What a beautiful hotel! Absolutely stunning. Staff couldn’t have done enough for us too. The hotel was right on the side of a gorgeous lake and a few minutes walk into the old town. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Probably the nicest hotel we have ever stayed in.

    The room was in the city center, 7 minute walking from the station Schwerin Mitte. Very clean, big and comfortable. The host has sent the information about keys per SMS, fast and always reacheable in case of need. I will recomend it for sure
