The location is great - very close to many attractions and great restaurants within walking distance. We were upgraded to a lovely suite overlooking the beautiful grounds - complete with flamingos! There are multiple great dining options on site and the staff is very attentive and so friendly. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Excellent hotel, exceeded our expectations. Very kind and professional front desk staff. Amazing breakfast with great variety. Breathtaking Nile view and most amazing terrace directly on Nile river, where you can have your breakfast, lunch or enjoy beautiful sunset. Nice pool. Internal part of hotel has several restaurants (Italian, Lebanese, Nubian, Thai), and every evening live music/ belly dancers: dervish dance. Room service very good, great offer and fast service. They even have lunch boxes that you can order in room- was great when we were traveling full day to Abu Simbel. All staff very kind and professional!

Gamal runs an outstanding operation. He welcomes you, make sure you are comfortable, discuss life in general, knows everyone and can arrange everything that you need (from transportation to excursions, from dinner to appointments at the beauty salon 🙂, feel free to ask for help anytime) . His staff, all family and/or friends are as kind and welcoming. The breakfast is fresh, tasty and plentiful. The garden area is a peaceful Oasis. The neighborhood is very quiet and just a short walk will take you to a grocery store, a fruit stall and some restaurants. In summary, you get this cozy feeling of living like a local . I had the opportunity to meet other guests that were repeat visitors and would not stay anywhere else. He owns another property in another equally attractive location that soon will be ready to be booked. I mention this because it shows the entrepreneur spirit mixed with an eximious quality of hospitality.

I stayed 2 nights for solo trip. Clean, calm, staff was kind, good location for sightseeing. I chartered taxi through the hotel for 8 hours. The young driver couldn’t speak English but he was very kind, and I was able to visit 5 spots with peace of mind.

Nour el Balad is an absolute gem tucked away from all the crowds. The guesthouse is a traditionally built home with lovely little details and decorations everywhere, and palm furniture including the beds. The breakfast included is delicious, but make sure to stay for lunch or dinner — the roast duck and molokhiya are absolutely outstanding! Luxor’s restaurant scene isn’t amazing and we ended up eating dinner at Nour al Balad every night of our week-long stay. Abdullah and his team offer warm hospitality and can also help with transfers and taxis as needed. We have stayed there twice now and can’t wait to return!!

The hotel felt like we were staying in Cleopatras castle. It is very unique and beautiful. The staff was absolutely phenomenal and very accommodating to all our needs. The rooms were beautiful, huge bathrooms and the bed was very comfortable. I miss this place so much already! The food was great too!!! The dining area is beautiful. Everytime we needed something, or a ride, the staff made sure we were immediately taken care of.

Great historical places like Valley of the Kings, Queens and Hatshepsut temple. Hot air balloon is a must-try with good price compare with other countries. The pilot is very experience and the hot air balloon is very stable. However, day time weather is comparatively hotter then Cairo and Aswan. Recommend to bring a portable fan around.

I thought Luxor temple was much better than the pyramids.

I thought Luxor temple was much better than the pyramids. The taxi driver at the airport Mohamed, was very friendly and came back to collect us on time. There was a man with a horse carriage that was relentless and a liar for about 10 minutes, non-stop from the hotel to the entrance of the temple. We were the only ones walking the full avenue from Luxor temple to Karnak but it was worth it because it was peaceful and the guards were friendly. We would have liked to stroll at night time on the promenade but as soon as you were stepping outside the hotel, you were targeted by scammers. The hotel had good facilities, good food and a good swimming pool but it would have been good to enjoy a bit more freedom like in any other tourist destination.

Luxor sites are great must see for travelers who loves ancient Egyptian sites. Many beautiful experiences. But unless you've got the a full time tour/handler, be prepared for the endless stream of people looking to siphon some of your pocket and time. We're 'do it yourself' kind of travelers and did so without serious issue; It takes street smarts and awareness. People generally are kind and warm and Luxor has a lot to offer. A driver/guide is essential for the West Bank sites though, many things to navigate and difficult without someone versed in the area and processes.

I really enjoyed seeing various monuments and then relaxing at my hotel. Most of the monuments are very close to where you'd be staying - which is really pleasant. There are several very reasonable tour operators and always lots of availability, during the off season. I recommend going between June - December, as there's more availability and it's not crowded.

If I have to go back to Luxor ever again - I would pick a Hotel with a view and good food, and outside of the city centre (avoid Luxor Temple/Souk areas). Honestly, if I had to do it again, I would just leave the hotel with a private driver and guide (and air conditioner) to visit all the temples and tombs, and the Hassan Fathy (architect) house, mosque and neighbourhood. Buy nothing and do nothing in the city centre. I loved all the Temples and Tombs visited, definitely worth while and amazing architecture (Karnak will be forever in my memory), but had a terrible experience with the city itself due to the excessive aggression to tourists in the centre. The Western side of Luxor seemed a bit calmer and more genuine. The city is experienced with a constant aggression by people trying to sell you things. It is overwhelming. To the point that it made me averse to it. The souk was full of fake/low quality items and the same applies to the alabaster factories & perfume shops the guides try to take you due to their commissions' revenue. There are just too many scams and everything was outrageously overpriced. I bought all I wanted and needed in Cairo.

We travel by our own through Egypt this summer. Luxor was a very pleasant city, safe and calm. We could enjoy a magical place with a lot of history. Choosing the Sonesta hotel was the cherry on top. The facilities are great; the rooms are well equipped, the bed was nice and comfortable, AC and wifi run smoothly, and there is a nice swimming pool to relax after a day full of activities. The location was also great, the views are magnificent, and the staff was helpful; we definitely will come back.

We had a really nice stay at this hotel in Luxor. We met the owner Elnouby and his brother, who were both incredibly kind and attentive throughout our visit. They helped us arrange all the transportation we needed, which made getting around super easy and stress-free. We also got to enjoy a delicious Egyptian breakfast, with traditional local dishes that gave us a great start to the day. Their hospitality truly made us feel welcome.

Perfect hotel for a stay in Luxor! The staff is lovely. The rooms are very good . The roof top with swimming pool is sublime with its view of the temple. The hotel is ideally located in relation to the attractions of the city. Finally breakfast is really a plus, it changes what many hotels of this range in Egypt offer.
