A very nice, laid-back beach town with great restaurants both on and off the beach, not overdeveloped, a nice boardwalk and easy access to hikes and other beaches in the area. I would recommend a trip to San Pedro and the healing mud. It was great! Lovely paella at the La Mama restaurant, and a great two-story restaurant and bar on the beach with outstanding steaks and great cocktails, including Non Alcoholic Tanqueray gin.Guest review byScootmarooCzech Republic - 8.0

Nice beach,clean too. Nice walk along the promenade and wooden walkway the the 'park' A quaint square,with the turret sat there. Close to the natural park too for nice walks or cycle rides. La Mata Beach was absolutely fantastic, and we enjoyed every moment of our visit! The beach is beautiful with its golden sand and crystal-clear water, perfect for relaxing and taking in the sun. It was never too crowded, which made it easy to find a great spot to sit and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. We loved walking along the shoreline, and the gentle waves were perfect for a refreshing swim. The surrounding area had plenty of nice cafés and restaurants, so we could easily grab a bite to eat or a cold drink after a day in the sun. La Mata is a nice small place with everything you need as a tourist: the banks, post office, bakeries, supermarket, pharmacy, little shops and lots and lots of restaurants; there is not much regional entertainment/ artistic shows, dances etc but perhaps I am not well informed; perhaps I would know more if I had stayed a bit longer or if I had stayed in the season. There are lots of interesting places around La Mata eg. the monastery in La Nevalda, the city of La Leche, a boat trip to las Tabarcas, the city of Guardamar, the city of Orihuela, Alicante I Torrevieja.Guest review byJoliUnited Kingdom - 10.0
La Mata to us was just perfect. Our stay was very enjoyable.
La Mata to us was just perfect. Our stay was very enjoyable. The location in where we stayed was close to the supermarket, bakery, pharmacy, restaurants and of course the beach.
