Very few hotel options so make reservations early.
Very few hotel options so make reservations early. No A/C in hotel but it cools off every evening and we opened windows after sunset and room cooled quickly. If you sleep hot like us ask for a sheet. There are really a couple of different options in Roncesvalles after crossing the Pyrenees on the Camino: the lovely, simpler Hostel or a more comfortable single occupant hotel room. We chose the later, with the Casa de los Beneficiados. Well worth it. Nice room, very clean, spacious well stocked bathroom. Highlight was the restaurant, with pilgrim menu (salmon was delicious). All that aside, for a weary traveller it was most welcome. The staff couldn’t have been nicer and more accommodating - everyone of them I had contact with was understanding and tried their very best to help a non Spanish speaker even to the point of assistance beyond what one would find in a home language hotel.
